Spoken like a man that has never fired an RPM XL. No swinging, no pivoting arms, little to no muzzle rise, this is a handgun that recoils straight back. That was the worst firearm I have ever fired. As in painful, my hair hurt. Would I do it again? Not a chance. Three shots is a lifetime worth.

Yeah, no thanks. Ability to move with recoil makes a difference. Sort of why bench resting a heavy kicker isn't fun if the bench is low and you lean into the gun.
If Rick doesn't want to shoot a handgun then I sure don't.

EDIT to last post. The first two shots were with a muzzle brake, the third and last shot was without the brake.

As to recoil out of my 30-06 CVA Scout :

The day I made a decision to buy the CVA Scout rifle, shooting factory rounds in the rifle was the LAST thing that was on my mind.

We are all cast bullet shooters here. Mild cast bullet loads that are fun for me and my grandson will be the mainstay of this particular rifle. Most likely the most intense load my grandson will ever fire out of the rifle will be a 170 gr. g/c with 16.0 - 17.0 grs. of 2400.

The great majority of loads will consist of 8.3 grs. of B'Eye and the SAECO # 315 plain base sized .311". This is a very pleasant load out of a 30-06 and is " nail driving accurate " out of the many rifles I've fired it out of.

If you know what is the twist in this rifle ? Just as a curiosity. I would expect 1-10 but 1-12 wouldn't be a surprise either .

I went to Bud's site they had a lot of 243's 708's 270's 300BO (just under 200$) but no calibers that interested me. 44's and 35 rem OOS.

Love a duck, Lorenzo.......THAT is a fine-shooting rifle, Ben!

One of these in 357 Magnum would be a real delight for varmint strafine or for the sub-compact blacktails around our Central Coast of this Pipple's Respooblik. 200 bones for a rifle that shoots likes Ben's does is extraordinary.

My exact thoughts.
But.......Alas, it isn't chambered in 357 Mag.
If it was, I'm betting that it would be a great seller.
Or even better the 357 Max.

I bought two of them from Bud's. The first was a 35 Remington that was $170. It shot so well that I bought a 300 Blackout for just slightly more. Both have been excellent shooters, but I'm very seriously considering reaming the 35 to 358 Win. 35 Rem brass is almost nonexistent everywhere I look. I seriously think I could buy a reamer (or at least rent one) for less than the cost of 100 35 Rem cases.

May just be me, but finding .35 Rem. brass right now isn't easy.
I'm a big fan of the 358 Win. I have 2 of them.
You can't go wrong with a good 358.

The only place I have found it readily available was from Grumpa on the other site.

He makes it from lake city 308. $60/100 if memory serves me right. Seems high but once you read what he goes through to make it you wonder how he can sell it for $60

Yes but I heard he doesn't turn the base It is slightly over 35 rem Spec! Actually no problem but you can't use the stock 35 Rem Cartridge holder in your press

I would really like to get ahold of the scout in a 44 mag or 35 rem.
Dad just picked up the scout v2 in 300 blk. The fit, finish, and trigger are really nice for a rifle in this price range.
