I have had problems with a lot of different types of .30 cal. cast bullet designs in my Ruger # 1, 30-30 Win.
The throat ( or lack of one ) is such that about 90% of my .30 cal. cast bullets won't chamber in the rifle unless they are deep seated.
I bought a Lyman 31141 HP mould from Brad a few days ago.
It appears that this bullet mould was custom made specifically for this rifle. ( I've always read that the 31141 was made for the 30-30 , so this isn't a real big surprise )
With an OAL that puts the crimp groove at the end of the case mouth, I get ( in my opinion ) ideal engraving. I am looking forward to testing this combination.
The nose diameter with my alloy in the area you see in the photo below is .300 "
If you look at how close the end of the rifling is to the end of the case neck, you can easily see why so many of my favorite .30 cast bullet designs won't chamber.
