You guys that 45 auto:
Have you used the New small primer versions of the brass? I have a large amount of once fired "Win NT"brass ( range pick)
Just wondering does one do well reloading with the standard Small Pistol primer or is a small magnum pistol primer in order?
when I get a batch of range brass, after I sort by HS and primer size, I give away all the SP 45acp brass.
Other reloaders seem to love them...Me, not so much.
I have tested the SPP brass side by side with some other, known once-fired brass and also noted more consistent groups using the same powder and charge.
If anyone wants to get rid of SPP brass, keep me in mind.
I can shoot more than 25 but it's a waste of ammunition after about 16 anymore. My wrists are so impacted from pulling wrenches that handgun recoil gives me tremors by the second magazine.
I will NOT downgrade to 9mm though, I'll shoot light .38s all day before doing that.
I cull the small primer casings out of the bunch after I clean the brass. I don't know why someone thought we needed two different primer sizes for one cartridge.
Sometimes you just need to ignore the Good Idea Fairy.
run on dillion 650 jsut change to small primer and laod as normal, only thing some are in real tight and they sometimes "pull back"
there is a dillion fix to put a slight tapper angle on the de capping pin that fixes this.
I never used the SP brass in 45 acp That stuff came out of the clean / green generation You will see the Win NT headstamp is for "Winchester non toxic"!
What I was asking, because those are different composition SPPs; would there be any benefit of using the old style Small Mag pistol Primers vs the Old style Small pistol primers in these cases ? Do we know if those new Green Non Toxic Primers are hotter then our old Small pistol primers and if they are. are old style Mag SSPs a better choice?
