Thought I might as well chime in .... I too have a 38 Super, sort of.
It actually is a slightly tricked out ( as in ambi safety, mag well, target sited, extended mag release, bever tailed safety) WHEW!,
1911 Colt in 9mm.
I had two Briley barrels and bushings mated to it, one in 9mm the other 38 Super, I also have a set of springs for it.
Some how I also managed to scrounge up a dozen mags for both calibers.
The interesting part is that one of the mags is for 10mm, it is one of the best feeding mags I,ve got for that gun.
The 38 Super is a great caliber, especially for IPSC as it can be loaded to operate the Comp race guns and allows for high cap mags.
As for a "konck around" piece I yet have to find any practical advantage over the 9mm.
I find the three? rim sizes to be a little annoying.
Would I ever get rid of it ? NO , it's just got too much cool factor.
