Not hard to put a hole in them they just don't go down easy. First for me, ~150# hit in the rear @25 yds, 40SW 165gr 3% Sb & Cu, PC, HT. mid range load. Ran 25 on 3 legs to the fence line, another 40 or so before we found it. Followed the blood trail from the mouth - gut/heart/lung shot. Bone sticking out under the mouth, no recovered boolit. Shot placement is the king. 223 just makes the yotes skip a beat. Worked with a guy years ago who (why?) did testing of dog necks. Dragged em, block & chain, etc. Can't break a dogs neck ever. 50% muscle is in the neck. Pig & bear pretty much the same.
