The sights that were factory installed on my Super Redhawk, 454 Casull were the conventional white outline rear and the orange front.

The revolver came with " Express Sights " in a plastic bag packed with the revlover from the factory, I decided to try them out. I seem to shoot the revolver better with the McGivern Bead sight and the Express V.

If for any reason I don't like them, it is about a 10 minute job to go back to what I had in the " Before Photos " that you see below.

Of course , for $900 Ruger should throw in a few " extras ".

Here are the AFTER PHOTOS :

Ha, You Funny Rick .

Seriously, In my life time, I can't ever picture me needing a handgun that can generate any more power than this one.

It is accurate and very powerful. MUCH REVOLVER ! !

I have about 300 ea. new pieces of 454 Casull Brass. After shooting some " full tilt " 454 Casull loads, I realized that 300 pieces of Casull brass will probably last me about 14 lifetimes. For me at least, those loads are right on the edge of being too much of a good thing.

One of my favorite loads is a 320 gr. solid, plain base bullet sized to .452" with 9 grs. of Alliant Unique loaded into 45 Colt cases. That load shoots cleanly and doesn't build up much of a " crud ring " in my cylinders. I think a lot of people who say that Unique is dirty have never fired it in loads that allow it to build up enough pressure to make a complete and clean burn.

A large, heavy bullet around 900 to 1100 fps is manageable and penetrates like no tomorrow.
My standard 45 Colt load is a 300 gr plain base over 10.5 gr of Surplus 105, goes 950 in the 4 5/8 Blackhawk and around 1100 in the Marlin CB.

Yes and as it has often times been said .... " A 9 mm bullet " might " expand, a .45 won't get any smaller."

The cartridge is the .338 GEF. The bullet is the Lyman 338320, that I had Erik Ohlen HP for me.

No wonder 2400 can't be bought around here.
I think the " secret " is out .
We have a gun show in B'ham this Saturday.
I'll be on the look out for more.

The next time 2400 shows up around here, I'm buying all I can. I'll cut back on groceries if necessary.

That's cruel posting the 454srh. That's the one that has my attention. I'd really like to pick up a 7.5" and the Alaskan model. Not that I'd be shooting full power all that much, having the extra power to play with and hunt would be great.

I had to pass on an 8 lbs jug of 2400 in favor of others I was out of. Wouldn't ya know now I'm out of 2400. We have some pretty good supply shops here though so I'm sure it will come around again soon enough.

Nice load and nice shooting Ben!

I've only had this rifle a few months. My gunsmith installed a Shilen , 8 groove, 338 barrel on the rifle, chambered in 338-06 .

At first, I had some reservations about 8 grooves but 1 trip to the range settled that.

As it warms up this spring , I can play with it more.

I had a discussion with Al at NOE a couple of months ago.
I told him I'd like a new mold for my 338-06 .

He recommended this one. The mold arrived.
I've already cast with it.
The as cast diameters of the drive bands, gas shank dia, etc. are near perfect for my needs.
Looks a bit like a Guy Loverine mold ? ?

Here is it :

I'm sizing to .3395 "

Here is the gas checked version ;

Here it is in plain base , sized .3395" , lubed with Ben's Red and then rolled in Ben's Liquid Lube :
