Just wondering?

I tried twice to join several years ago with no joy. Was before the internet & I filled out a form and mailed it in with a check. Never heard from them and the check never cleared the bank. A few years after that I signed up online and mailed a check, check cleared the bank & I am still waiting to hear from them. I gave up on them.

Interesting! Been a member for 8-10 years. The "Fouling Shot" (6 times a year) is well worth the subscription price IMO. The load data from match shooters of cast bullets is also worth the subscription price. They also have postal matches that I sometimes participate in. Just google Cast Bullet Association, if you are interested.

The Fouling Shot is the reason I tried to join. To this day I have never seen a single issue, kinda makes it not worth the membership fee to me.

I tried to register numerous times on their forum, honestly I can't remember if I ever got admin approval or not or if I've ever posted there. Thought about trying again recently since Lee includes a little advert slip with their new moulds, but meh, I've never been much of a "club" type person.

Rick and Ian,

Amazing! The CBA emails a free copy on request from the web site. Yes, there have been problems in the past, but things have been running smoothly the last 4 years with our new secretary. Please go to the web site and make contact again. If that fails, PM me and I will intercede for you.

Been a member off & on for years and mostly on. Being just a plinker I can't honestly say I've found it of a lot of value to me. Doubtful that I'll renew CBA.

Also have belonged to the CB-L for a long time and have gotten some good tips on there but last couple years it's been pretty spotty. I'm definitely liking this forum. And sorry boys but I've gleaned a lot on Cast Boolits too and the traffic is definitely thickest on that one.

I joined the CBA at least 25 yrs. ago and am still a member. I've even written a few articles for The Fouling Shot, though not recently. However, if my chronograph proves reliable and I get some range time next spring, I may submit an updated article on the SKS, with cast bullets of course. Btw, the CBA Forum allows no discussion of politics or religion, so it's much calmer than some other sites I visit, or used to visit.

Just like here. It's a good policy.

Paul,
Back in the 1980's I used to shoot on a PA Game Commission range out in the boondocks ( closest one to me back then) I met an old guy ( yes I was a young guy then) Who was in the CBA. Shot a Military rifle & I was so impressed with his discipline; Standing @ 100yds he shot a 5 round string ...layed down his rifle waited a bit then shot another 5 round string! Unbelievable targets he shot! I was very impressed! He tried to talk me in to joining but I was shooting Heavy Benchrest at the time and couldn't be bothered putting a lead bullet in my bore!
I now would love to have him shoot next to me again; so I can learn more about what he did. I'm sure he is long departed now & shooting at the "eternal range"
Guess when you are young you get some "Oppertunities" you just have to stop look and listen

I looked at joining the CBA a decade or so back. Never pulled the trigger, not sure why?
I don't have much interest in competition these days. I may consider it if for no other purpose than to see what others are doing.

As I approach 70, I appreciate the time I spent with "old" people when I was younger. Last Veteran's Day I had Scotch with a man I have know for 25 years, who jumped into Normandy, Market Garden and Over the Rhine. Purple heart earned in Bastogne. I "interviewed" my wife's grandfather who was in the same Regiment as me, but in WWI, for a college history class in 1971. If you don't post it on youtube or faceybook today, it didn't exist.

Isn't that the truth!
Still much to be learned thru reading and even better, first hand teaching.
That said, YouTube has been a huge help in learning to operate the lathe. Seeing is believing. Luckily there is better info online for machine work than for casting.

When I was visiting Rick a few weeks back I wish I would have had time to watch him cast. Would have picked up a few pointers I am sure.
