I didn't take pictures and kind of regret that. What I decided I need to do was slug all of my firearms. I thought about the best/easiest way would be to cast them in pure lead. I took a drill guide and found bits in my collection and rounded them up. I then found a good piece of oak hardwood from an old pallet. I went to the drill press and made the holes. I used a small ladle and cast up all the slugs. They would not release. I expected that so I put the block in the freezer for about an hour. They would still not release. On several, I cast flush but on some of them, there was enough lead on top to grasp with pliers. On those I was able to wiggle them free. The others needed a sharp chisel to expose enough to grip with the pliers and wiggle them out. I now have a slug for every bore I own and with get to slugging. The twist bit puts a nice cone on the tip.
I then decided to search on bore slugging and came across an article by Mike Venturino where he says he uses round balls way over sized and just mashes them in with a dead soft hammer. Not a bad idea but I like my idea too. I was wondering if I needed lube or oil or nothing.
My next quest will be to measure the cylinders in my revolvers and at the moment, I haven't figured that out. Cerrosafe? Some other way?
