I own a single cav. , IDEAL 323471.
I'll never sell that one.
It is the finest bullet that I've ever shot out of several 8X57 mm rifles.
Al at NOE is out of his version of this bullet.
I found an individual with one . He said that he had never used the mould. He said he was willing to sell it, we agreed on a price and he shipped it. The mould arrived today.
Being a 2 cavity , the word production went through my head.
I am well pleased with the mould .
I gave it a good cleaning and cast with it.
Nice and round at .327" , I'm sizing to .325".

I'm hoping that this one will shoot just as good as my IDEAL single cav. ? ?

A proper scout rifle, the Colonel would approve. I fell in love with Mausers years ago when they were inexpensive. I have a few German R/C's and quite a few Yugo's (24/47's and M48's) I just started loading cast in them about a year and a half ago using the Lee 324-185(?). They are fun to shoot with cast. Very nice looking mold.

My bore is near pristine.
It has the " Deep " German rifling.
My gunsmith pre-predicted that this one would shoot cast bullets very well. HE WAS RIGHT ! !

Ben,
That is a good looking mould. Reminds me of that .338 mould you use to have which did the trick in my well worn JP Saure 98 Mauser ( needs a .334 bullet to shoot well).
Turned that piece of junk into a nice target rifle

Lovely! I've recently converted 3 of my bolt rifles over to Scout configurations. Should have done it years ago.

You've probably seen this one before .

It's the only scout I have right now . I need to just spring for the glass and be done with it I think the 358 would make a good one .
I'm thinking that maybe the 92' rework next yr will get a scout set up with a side saddle pig light .

I'd say 98% perfect alignment over every mount .
The rifle isn't a 6.5-52 any more it's a 7×6.8 and the loaded clips just clear the the scope with the rear flip cap off . It's a cute cartridge in a fun carbine .

How about a slightly used Lyman 32359 Ben? Don't mind that the handles were burned off in a fire. LGS owner gave it to me the other day. It's beyond repair, with serious pitting throughout.

That is a shame to see.
That being said that mould would be an excellent candidate for some experimenting. Wonder what a little fine lapping compound in the cavities would do?
That mould may still cast a decent bullet. Might not be the prettiest but the gun might not care.

Brad,

I'm with you , that one might just need some TLC.

It's been soaking in Kroil for a week now. The sprue plate would have to be replaced. It's pitted pretty deep, and lead would stick horribly is my guess. Some real bad rust on the face and cavities. I made a half hearted attempt to remove the screws to get it off the handles to no avail. I'm guessing it was found in the ashes of a burned building, well after the fire was out. If you want to give it a second life just PM me your mailing address and it's all yours. I don't own anything in 8mm.
