I sent this one to Jesse today to have rebored to 358 Win., 3 groove.

Here is JES's Web site:
http://www.35caliber.com/

I sent JESSE my VZ 24 mauser 98'
Timmney trigger , 1 lb.
Laminated stock is glass bedded and free floated.
Barrel is currently a .308 Win. , Stainless steel, hvy. fluted.
See mould details in the next post below........

This one should be a real cast bullet shooter.

Here is the NOE .360", 230 gr. mould.
The mould cast at .361" with air cooled clip on WW's.
A very accurate bullet.
A fine bullet for killing white-tail deer.

I'll most likely try this bullet first in my newly rebored 358 Winchester rifle that JES will be shipping to me in a few days.

Me three. I want a 358 Winchester M1A. BADLY. Problem is I'll have to build it from scratch since my current one has a pencil barrel that can't be bored, and the barrels are each custom fit and headspaced to the actions. A nice aftermarket NM barrel should work, I know it's been done. When I have a spare $2500 laying around I'll get right on it.

Question, Ben: Why bore that one when you can swap the barrel for $200? Going for a different ROT or groove count from JES? He'll probably do a better job than what you can buy off-the-shelf anyway.

Ian :

I already have 2 done by him.
I could not ask for a more accurate barrel on either of the 2 that I already own.
All of mine are 3 groove barrels.

I ask for 3 groove on this one also.

I realize it is horrible to shoot a rifle at 50 yards, but I did it anyway.
5 rounds, 358 Win., 358009, sized .360, 14.8 grs. of 2400.

Yeah, don't ya know only losers, dummies, and wimps shoot a rifle at 50 yards?

Also you must repent for using a magnum shotgun powder in a rifl----wait, is that five in one hole? Oh, .............

Ben,

That bullet @ 2200 fps. in ww alloy will just flat un hinge a whitetail. My whelen loves that bullet at just about any speed and doesn't seem to be too particular about what powder is pushing it.
Excellent all around bullet for the 35 bore.

I got in on the original group buy on this one and bought a 2 cav. rg gc version. I liked it so much i recently bought it in another 2 cav. 1 gc and 1 pb non rg version.

I think the only secret to getting this one to shoot is making sure the rather thin base band is filled out.
Can't wait to see how it does in your "new" .358.

Great shooting guys! I have a 358 in a Remington 760 that JES re-bored. I had a Mossberg Patriot in 358 but I messed up and got it in 5 groove, I want another in 3 groove.

Since I can't find the 308 I want right now I am sending this 03 to JES and get a 35 Whelen.

WOW, you'll like that one Malcolm.
That's a beautiful piece of wood on your Springfield !
I hope that it shoots great for you when it gets back from JES.

RCBS 250 gr. 35 Cal.

I'm also anxious to try this one in my new rebore , 358 Win., JES , VZ-24 98 Mauser that I'll be receiving soon.
The bullets drop at .3605".
I'm sizing to .3595"
Hornady gas checks are super tight on the shank.
This one is a special order item with RCBS, not so easy to find.

that should do the job.
the smaller meplat lets you get away with a bit more velocity for hunting, which gives a flatter trajectory for those longer shots.
there is plenty of weight there for penetration too so a little lost from expansion isn't a huge handicap.

Fiver,

I'm more than a little concerned about the feeding of my 358 Win. from my VZ-24 magazine.

The RCBS 250 gr. bullet above most likely has a better chance of feeding smoothly than the Ranch Dog style with its larger meplat.
