No, I didn't make myself clear, sorry.

Yes, since it is your revolver, the question was to you.
At any rate, a very nice piece.

Thanks,
Ben

Just getting used to how this community replies to one another, I'm used to using the "quote" or "reply to" options and get confused easily myself o_O.

I'm a huge S&W fan. I have a 36, two 60s, 66-6", 586-4", 29-6", 629-6", 629 Classic Hunter-6" and a 4" stainless .22 model 63.
The 66 and Classic Hunter both have scopes and both will hold 1-1/2" 100 yard groups with cast loads that they like.
I've smoothed the action on all of them. Didn't touch the sear surfaces, but used stones to smooth the sides of the hammers, triggers and all other moving parts.
Having only six shots makes you focus a little more on each shot as opposed to the spray and pray that you see in some published shoot-outs.

I have a 586- 7 shooter that is a beautiful tack driver.

I am appalled at Brad's lack of S&Ws . . . . . needs to get a M14 at LEAST.

My goodness. . . . . I count 4" at 100 as about as good as I can shoot a
pistol. I guess I need to try it more often. I'll bet my handgun group shooting
at 100 (other than the 7-08 Lone Eagle) is under 25 groups in my lifetime, so
not a lot of experience or (it would seem, in retrospect) interest.

The scopes make a big difference, especially as I get older. My eyes don't see the sights like they used to.

I've got to really bear down to get these kind of groups and can't do it all of the time, but when I can't, it's my fault and not the guns.

I've been shooting a 280 Gr. WFN in the .44 and a 160 Gr. WFN in the .357, both from Veral's molds. I've got some of Mihecs hollow point molds and I want to try and work up some loads with them.

I fire lapped both guns and that made all the difference as far as accuracy.

I haven't shot at 100 yards in a while. The range I use had a lawsuit filed against them and they don't allow pistols on the 100 yard range anymore. Bummer!

A number of lovely L-frame S&W 357s depicted and described here. I had all of 3 years under my belt as a sheriff's deputy when S&W brought out their 581/681/586/686-series on the new "L" frame, which split the size difference between the 38 caliber "K" frame and 44 caliber "N" frame. In law officer circles, it was an instant success when presented in late 1980 or thereabouts. Alas, The Bottom-Feeder Revolution was poised to finally do to police armament what autopistols had done to military organizations two generations previously......rapidly convert sideiron (or holsterplastic) to magazine-fed and self-loading almost overnight. The S&W L-frames were in many ways cheated out of their decade.

That is NOT to say that wheelguns should be relegated to the scrap pile with the floppy disc or the 8-track tape deck. The 357 Magnum cartridge remains a GREAT field and defensive caliber. My back-country carry gun is a S&W 686 x 4", and I have dutifully kept it "on paper" with my old agency in retirement right along with the bottom-feeders.

My revolver inventory includes S&W, Colt, and Ruger examples in double- and single-action systems. I enjoy them all, from 22 LR to 45 Colt.

1.5" at 100 yards.......that is mighty fine revolver shooting. I have lever rifles that can't make that cut.

It is still there Rick. I about died when I saw the price. Then again, they had a well worn Marlin 336 with a cheap scope for 579.
It too is still there.

I just got an education. $1100 seemed a bit high for a 624 so I went to Gunbroker and looked them up. They went for $900 to $1800. Plus there was a set of stag grips for $135. If I remember correctly I paid like $400 for mine, bought it from the brother of a deceased club member, had no idea I stole it.

I had no idea a 624 was worth that much. Maybe I should start checking prices on several others I have. I could be rich and not even know it. :D
