My stepfather, who bled, raced, and dreamed in Ford Blue, built a 350 Chevy engine for my first vehicle. I took the '46 Chevy pickup down to the frame and rebuilt all the suspension, steering, and brakes myself, and while I was busy with that he took the old worn-out junkyard engine I had come up with and turned it into something special. I'll never forget the day he brought it to me on a trailer, all decked out with chromed tin and headers....and every cast iron surface was painted that beautiful, bright, shiny FORD BLUE!
I told him I it didn't matter what bastard color he painted it, it was still going to be a Chevrolet, and we had a good laugh. Very sadly he's gone now, but 28 years and 240,000 miles later, that blue bowtie engine still runs.
