Powder Containers

So, this raises another question; can the black one liter oil bottles be cleaned well enough to use to store powder???
I would surely think so.
If I were to clean one, I'd start with swirling some old gas, I seem to always have some old gas around that I use it for cleaning all kinds of stuff. Then some dish soap or murphy's oil soap and Hot water, put cap on and shake. Maybe repeat that last sentence, if needed.

Simple Green Concentrate. Make it any strength you wish. Biodegradable. I use it to clean fresh visitor's oil spots, right after they leave.

I like the newer wide mouth one pound plastic powder containers. They're already labeled..............no chance of confusion. I prefer not to have to use a funnel, when possible............because of bridging. When I empty my powder dispensers, I use a Dixie Cup paper bowl. Wide enough to prevent spillage and capable of folding the edge to facilitate, pouring directly back into a wide mouth container.

Most used powder dispenser is my RCBS Chargemaster. I keep that paper bowl directly under the drain valve. Fits perfectly.

:headscratch: Kind of wondering what the members do with their empty powder containers. I repurpose mine. Have several of one pounders and a couple of 8 pounders. When I relocated to Arkansas, ten years ago, I threw my Michigan stash away.

My truck doesn't leak ...... It just marks territory .

It actually burns more than it loses ....

I have a few cans as I'm using up Dad's stuff but I don't think the 1972-4 paper rectangles are what your looking for in a can . I have a few DuPont solvent type cans too . Just 1 each of the cube steel Hercules cans yep that last little bit is a pita . I dread the day I have to get the last 4 oz out of the 2 gallon steel kegs of Unique and Red Dot , not just because it's gone but because it's going to be a hassle . I guess I could just pour the plastic 8s and 4s back in it and not sweat it it for another 15-20 years . I don't think the caps will hold up though .

I have 3-3.5# of Herco in the tall square shouldered 1# cans .

I do have some surplus in the gallon bleach bottle as packaged by the distributor I keep it in the dark nominal 1" wood cabinet with the other 23# of powder as recommended by the NFPA guidelines . (Or something like that)

Well.... most of my empties had 8# in them, so they're not much help. I have an assortment of different cans too, but they don't fit as well as the rectangular ones. I know - I'm sounding too picky about something practical, but I'm trying to keep at least my reloading stuff neat and organized. A refuge from other chaos.

I get it with the funnel, and not just bridging, but STATIC CLING. However, I need a funnel even for the wide-mouth jars or I'll have it all over.

Very late to this party but a friend bought a 33 lb container of H 4831 after the Clinton scare in 93. I bought 6 lbs from him and he gave it to me in 2 liter pop bottles. I kept is out of the light and used it all within 20 years. There was no change in the chronograph, temps were between 65-85 in the basement.

A little late here but I've had plenty of powder in white jugs with no problem.

Now, there's a pretty sight!

I used to get those jugs for $54/ea. and I believe after four jugs he'd waive the "HAZMAT" fee.

I used the recycling symbol from those jugs and the ones form the powder companies to select the motor oil bottles I boiugh from US plastics. At the time, they were only available in white, but now they have silver and black as well. As long as the white ones aren't sitting around in direct sunlight - no harm.
