So this won't be as pretty as Ben's posts...but it will be to the point.
As you know Johnson's Liquid Paste Wax has been placed on the EPA extinct list..
So what can newbees do to approximate Ben's Liquid Lube...
Well this is what I tried..this concoction I call BenDan's Liguid Lube ...
It's ingredients are made up of what you should have on hand if you have been making Ben's Red. and BLL.
Alox, Jonhsons Paste Wax and some place around the ranch Pure Gum Spirits Turpentine.
The formula is easy, this is by volume..
1 part Johnsons Paste Wax
1 part Turps
2.5-3 parts Alox
What I did was take an old container and put a plastic spoon level of JPW in and ten a level plastic spoon of Turps...the wax will blend almost immediately.
You will end up with a grey slurry when mixed.
Then I put in the Alox and stirred.
It will appear to be stringy at first but will mix and turn to a semi liquid with about the same consistency as BLL ....
Obviously you can customize this to your liking.
The above recipe will drip just like the original..
OK so Imgur is not working..
I will load photos later ..
But here are the results
I shot these out of my 03a4 clone Noe 311332
ten shots with 13.8 grs Universal and only a medium coat of BDLL
the groups with the stand alone BDLL were about the same or smaller than the two five shot groups with BR and BLL ...no leading .
If you would like to try it I used an old coffee cup and a plastic spoon.. it makes enough to coat at least 50-100 bullets
I will post pictures of the groups when I can.
I shot two five shot groups because I wanted to see if they got worse , they improved instead..
This formula dries fast, really fast and leaves the same residue on the targets.
Pleas try it and let us know what your results are...Dan
