Just got back from the Tulsa Gun Show.
650 miles of driving today.
I'm pretty beat up.
Bought this little gem on Saturday at the Show.
New, un-fired with scope rings.
Should be fun.

Imagine that, Ben bought a Ruger #1.:)

Bet that rifle shoots well for you. It will certainly look good doing so. Those are a fine looking rifle all around.

Thanks Brad,

Having the 225415, the 225438 and the 225462 along with H & I sizing dies in .224,.225, .226 with 3 sets of F/L and Neck sizing dies , along with about 300 rds of empty brass swayed me greatly.

Never cared for the barrel band sling studs but, that rifle is a beautiful example no doubt. Hope she shoots well!

Good looking rifle, that should be fun to develop a load for. BTW, the flame wrench will take care of that sling stud.

Ben,
Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!! I have a Remington 722 in 222 and it is will put them in same hole at 50 yds with RCBS 55 gr FP. I expect this number one will do that too.

My only concern with this one is the 1 - 9 twist in the barrel.
I'm not certain when Ruger made the decision to go with 1 - 9 in the .222 Rem, # 1's , but that could create problems with some of my cast bullets ? ?

I simply cannot believe Ruger put a 1 in 9" twist in a .222?

If that beauty was mine Ben.... I'd say my prayers first for 1 in 14" and then measure it.!!

My opinion of that barrel ring for a sling swivel? It may not please the eye of some.... But if one is going to use it; IT'S THE BEST PLACE!!! You put a sling on a Ruger #1B and then pack it around...... Well, it's very likely you may not be still sighted in when you see your target.!!

Have 3 #l's, and would sure like to add one like that to the
collection Ben. 222 IMO one of the GREAT ctgs of all time.

Beautiful little rifle, and in one of my all time favorites, the .222. I've never tried cast in a .222, but have sent many hornady and sierra jacketed rounds downrange back in the 70's and early 80's.

My first centerfire after got out of the Corps and got Married (same day) was
a 340 Sav in 222. Load was 24 gr BL-C2, under 50 gr Hor. Took a fair number
of chuck, and a blacktail buck with it in Washington state.

Paul,

I'm not saying the .222 Rem is a white tailed deer cartridge,....However my friend in the late 60's was a conversation officer in GA. They would go out at night on landowner's property who had been complaining about the deer eating up their crops.

He used a state issued 700 Rem. ADL , 222 with factory 50 gr. ammo.
He said he killed over 100 of them and that they would drop where they were standing.
The meat was taken to the local jails to help feed prisoners.

My 222 likes the 225-55 at 62 gr up to about 2600 but it's a 1-12 . The 1-8 223s seem to fall apart about 2100 .

I got a 225-37 for the girls to shoot like a 22 mag .
