Selling brass

I have a LOT of brass I have been collecting. I am considering selling most of it. But I am afraid that most of this is going to be hard to get real soon. I have seen on a few boards that the price for the common 9mm, 556, .40 has been really going up. I am thinking I may hang onto it till after January to see where all of this BS that is going on right now ends up.

So what would you do?

That's the problem @Ian I am out of room. I have run out of 5 gal buckets and a 55 gal drum. I have a commercial reloader here near me. He has made and sold over 1.5 million rounds of 9mm this year so far and is not stopping. I might see if I can work a deal with him on primers. I have enough to last the next year if I keep shooting like I am right now.

One thing he ran into was not being able to get enough brass from the Gov't auctions. So he is having brass made with his logo on it. But he will not say who's it is. My guess is Starline. They will make whatever you want if you pay them. He has 4 automated super 1050's all automated. Plus 6 other regular 1050's

Im holding EVERYTHING right now.
In recomend the same to everyone. It dont eat anything and could be quite value-able and useful.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
I went to a gun show yesterday and took 4200 small pistol magnum primers that I'm unlikely to ever use, I just don't shoot the 357 like I used to. There were a good number of complainers there, but nobody taking action and I ended up not telling anyone what I had in the sack. When I got home I put them back into storage with fresh desiccant and O2 eliminators. Our world is topsey-turvey right now, and it's no time to be selling off assets.

I have been trading for stuff I need. I had a half bucket full of .223 brass. I don’t own a .223 rifle. I needed 30-30. I bought some, and I traded some of the .223 for some 30-30.

It’s just like the stock market. Buy low sell high. You just never know when it is high.

I would make sure you have what you need. Trade for primers if that’s what you need.

I don't need any of the brass I spoke about. I picked up a 5 gal bucket full to the top on Fr-Sat. Still sorting out what I use. One kid down there got a new 10mm. I have close to 200 of his casings. 450 bush, 6.5 creed, 3006, 270, 308/7.62's, 5.7, 45acp sp,

Just been crazy the last few weeks. Been spending more time picking up brass than shooting. but that's what I did the last scare. When it all comes down to it, I shoot for free. I have not spent any of my own $$ to get the reloading stuff I need. I know I have close to $2K in scrap brass alone. I am thinking I might count out a 1K rounds and weigh it. Then sell it by the box on ar15.com

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I'd be trading the stuff I CAN'T use for 22LR or stuff I CAN use. I have some odd stuff I'll never own a rifle for here and there, 7 mag for instance. I'd trade that if I could (I only have a few pieces). Anything I can use, no matter how old or cruddy, I'm keeping.

Tomme boy, It doesn't sound like I have the size of stash that you have, but I do get more than my fair share of brass, especially after the local police have their Qual shoots...so lots of 223/556 and 45acp and 9mm. Around 2017 when things died down, I cleaned out part of my attic to store buckets of Brass, getting them out of my reloading/casting areas. No 55 gallon barrels, LOL, but there is about 40 buckets (35 lb cat litter buckets with hinged lids).

Anyway, I think it's too early to sell, unless you are helping a friend. I just swapped a couple bricks of primers and a box of Media, to one friend for a C note.

During the 2014 madness, I sold many SFR boxes of 223/556 (a quantity of approximately 235 fit in a SFRB), prices varied, I got more for matching HS. I won't mention the prices I got, cuz I know some of ya'll hate the gougers.

It's only gouging if you reel in a sucker and there aren't any 2nds on lot #5 .

I wish I had y'all's brass problem . But 300- 3000 per cartridge is keeping me content for now .
If you have a bunch of that short Hornady 45-70 or 45 Colts I know an empty ammo/garbage can you can throw it in .
I doubt at the moment I have much you would need though .

RB,
when the local Sherriff breaks out the SAA's and leave piles of 45 colt brass on the range, I'll be sure you are the first on the list of friends I'll 'gift' some too ;)

I am like Bret, will trade things I don't have a use for, for things I do. I do have ~200 270 cases I will never use. Happy to trade if anyone is interested.

Oh , I don't want the good stuff . I want the shorts so I can crimp the 535s in the 1895 and cut the Colts back to S&W .

If they were to leave as many 45 Colts, as they now leave 45acp, there will be a lot of 'em. Surely plenty will be heavily tarnished and filled with dirt, and/or driven on and stepped on and squashed, like some of the 45acp I pick up now and end up recycling, LOL.

Beggars and stuff , you know .

I have a friend that doesn't reload , book smart with the mechanical aptitude of a rock , he has about 400 Starline from Bishop ammunition so next time we get together .....

I don't have 55 gal drums of brass but I do have kitty litter buckets (2 each of 223,45 ACP and 9mm) full and plenty for all my bolt rifles, but I still pickup all I find. I thought I had enough primers & powder but found out otherwise. When this "crisis" is over I intend to purchase 8 pounders of 4350, Unique and 4895. I'll get smaller jugs for some others and a bunch of small pistol/rifle primers. I'm doing okay (except for IMR4350 but have ammo made up so not the end of the world) but don't like being as low as I am.
