I’m Just water quenching after the powder coat, take the tray from the toaster oven and shake the bullets in a jug of water, for one it’s supposed to help the application of the PC but also, less waiting on them to cool
I don't/can't think in terms of powder coating. Picture I responded to, looked like freshly dropped bullets. Not familiar with how long you bake your bullets or at what temperature but if it is close to an hour (425*) it would be same as oven heat treating.I’m not water quenching the raw lead bullets
Yup, 400 degrees for 20 minutes, I’ll be completely honest with you and say that this was the very first time I ever did the water quenching, I’m happy with the results. Whether or not it had an actual affect, I don’t know, but visually, it seems to have had an affect, also, it’s just nice being able to work with them quickly. Also, I just use cheapo cotton gloves, you guys are making me think about investing in some decent onesI don't/can't think in terms of powder coating. Interesting, this is all new to me so I am certainly learning as I go.I can assure you it has a profound effect. See chart near bottom of this page.
Ahhhhhhh, thanks man!!!I have done tests and a number of others have as well.
Quenching after PC is dont to better maintain original hardness of the alloy you mixed in your pot.
So it is to harden, but not to increase hardness...

Most anal-retentive bullet storage I have ever seen.this is an old photo, I should take a new one. As the cold weather sets in, I plan to do some organizing.

Right CW. I don't think that goatee isn't grey in the middle, I thinks it is Peanut Butter drippings that melted out of sandwich while running a Lee pot.I found an outfit who sells the jars. Bough a few cases of them.
