Then the idea was to put the equipment on last, but the fork rack ended up being 16’6” high. That’s a no go. So they have to come back for the lift.

A Pettibone just came up for sale semi near me. An old 60's gasser, but the price is good for one. If I had a bunch of disposable extra $$$ I'd have that! Those things are great.

Did they leave the key? I'd be taking care of a couple quick projects with that thing if they left it at my house overnight ;)

Emmett, you'll be glad you had to go 5/8" once you get it up. It holds screws MUCH better. Get some deck stain or paint on that stuff pronto because it's already starting to rot right there in the truck! Might be a good idea to brush some primer on the bottom edge and inside up a foot or so before you hang it, that's where it always starts to deteriorate.
Ditto! And it's easier to seal it up BEFORE you install it! The 5/8 is much stiffer and won't get wavy like the 3/8 stuff too, better all around.

Quite the circus getting all the dogs situated for bed last night. I don't know if anyone else slept good, but I didn't. At 4:45AM the dogs were ready to face the day! SWMBO and my oldest girl are morning people. I'm not. They LIKE getting up at quarter to 5 in the morning...on a weekend at that! Weirdos, that's all I can say. And they don't even drink coffee! It's freaky, really freaky. ;)

Bright blue sky, cold north wind, another week of rain in the forecast. Tough year for hay.

I really need to get camper rear windows (sliders) for both my trucks. The GMC single cab especially has crap airflow. Why they did away with vent windows (wings in some places) is beyond me. Well, I'm sure it's cheaper, so that's probably it. Anyway, a rear slider just makes so much sense.
I love my slider, even though the air still works in the old girl. I have only had one pick up without one, that lasted a month before I got one
I like to have it and my driver's window open at least a crack. To let fresh air blow past me from the outside. Pluss it helps to have it open when someone is helping you back into a tight spot. You can hear them better.
Or puting a few 2x4x12's thru it so you don't have overhang and need a flag.
Plus it is nice to be able to chuck stuff in the bed from the cab. Especially on those long road trips.

Yes @Ian plan to Thomson's water seal them, on the outside.
Then paint the edges, and up so far from the bottom, on both sides with the left over deck paint after the cuts, are made before they go up.
I Can paint the color I want later.

Long and expensive week. Monday the service tech replaced the starting capacitor on the compressor for the A/C in our business. That and a "summer tune-up" which included cleaning the outside stuff set me back about $330. Nice and comfy now.

Thursday the Haas tech replaced the servo-amplifier card for the spindle in our CNC lathe. We're up and running now, I expect 2 service calls - one for diagnostics and one for installation of the part - plus the part itself will be about $2k. Gotta do it, not gonna have a shop with equipment that doesn't work properly, but if you wonder why a shop has to charge a hell of a lot more per hour than it pays it's employees you gotta look at every other expense involved to keep the doors open.

Yesterday the helpful folks at Best Buy (no sarcasm here, the Geek Squad folks really were very helpful) did all the processing to send my broken iPhone 11 back to Apple for a replacement. It's the 2nd time the screen has popped off the front and needed to be replaced. The first time I went to a non-Apple store and got a cheap screen that didn't have the (proprietary) facial recognition part in it so I lost that feature. Decided this time to spend a little more for a total replacement. Another $426 and no phone for 10 days to 2 weeks.

Used to have a Consumer Cellular flip phone several years ago when I was selling my father's house, I used that number for all the sales ads and contactss, but I canceled the account after the house was sold and gave the phone to a local women's shelter to use as a 911 phone. I ordered another $49 flip phone and a $20/month plan, phone should be here Wednesday. I got computers all around but I need mobile phone and text capabilities.

I will note that the folks at the AT&T store where I got the phone to start with were a lot more interested in selling me a new PLAN than they were in getting me a working phone. And every person I talked to (two sales associates and their manager) spent more time bending my ear about how much better their internet service PLAN was than the plan we have with our current provider. It's all about the PLAN don't you see?

When my current plan expires I'm probably going with a new phone service. My partner uses Verizon and they just gave him a free iPhone 13 for his old phone (iPhone 11 like mine).

Looking forward to having my left wrist and elbow operated on Wednesday morning, getting harder to do any fine work with my hands.

I got water skis on the front of the garage ;)

I grew up living in a Lake home and the marine items bring me great memories.
I doubt I could do this if I was living in a HOA neighborhood,
and barely can with the blight laws in my small City.

Lived under a HOA for many years. It was one of the biggest mistakes I've made in my life. Jon, HOAs are so horrible, evil and intrusive, they might not even allow you to grow your beard without first clearing it with them.

Keith, good luck with the surgery. Had much of my left wrist rebuilt when I was a young man. I'll be thinking about you on Wednesday.

Strange thing happened in this thread. Yesterday, I posted a follow-up message on the vintage bike ride I was in. Put 4 pics, all of which were accepted and posted it. I actually saw it post. Later, I was checking my phone and stopped by the site to see if anyone had commented. It was not there. Went to my computer and there it was. Back to the phone, nothing.

So, today I pull up the thread and the post is not there on my computer either. I'm wondering if I might have exceeded the size limit with 4 pics and the system accepted it and then did a rethink and booted it. Oh well.

UPDATE: Just noticed that someone had reacted to a post last night. Clicked the link and there was my bike ride post. I'd somehow managed to put it in the thread about Southpaw Shooters. Apparently, another Homer Simpson moment on my part. Seem to have more of those than I prefer, lately.

D'oh!!

One of the highlights was that clutch cable repair. The bike's owner was the guy who holds 3 different motorcycle LSR records currently. He stripped back the housing on the broken cable and stuffed it back into the perch and thru the lever. Then clamped down on the cable end with a small set of vise-grips somebody had in their tool-kit. It lasted the rest of the ride.

Spent more time at my parents helping my mom go thru things in preparation for their move to a retirement apt.
Brought home the letter she sent her mother when I was born. In the envelope was the letter my grandmother sent her parents once she learned of my birth.
Lots of memories. Finding paperwork from when my dad’s B52 crew went to Vietnam to spend some time with the 1st ID in the field was kinda neat.
Having gone thru this experience 2 years ago at the in-laws we are well versed.

Sucks seeing the folks getting old.

De PLAN, de PLAN. Yup, gotta sell to make $. Had a navy buddy that rode the 305 scrambler home on weekends. I had a cb350 which I liked. Kinda like a model A, easy to fix any thing.
Hutch still has tractor pulls?
Keith, hope all goes well with the surgery.
Hip, back, knees and feet - oh to be 29 again. Wanted to help move stuff for VBS this week, decided the frame needs some rest. Did manage auto-door opener for services today.
