Never say "How could things get worse".
I lost my wife and now my only sibling, my sister, in less than 3 months.
Her funeral, scheduled for Saturday, was cancelled because her only surviving child, her daughter, and her husband came down with covid.
I have been spending time with them, so I took a home covid test yesterday evening.
It showed negative.
I will take another Saturday if I don`t develop symptoms, sooner if I do.
This getting old isn`t for sissys.

Monday, I got some bad fish (strong fishy flavored dried salmon sticks).
Monday night I had some bad food poisoning, barfed up a half gallon of slop at 1am.
Tuesday, I bring the fish packaging back to grocery store to let them know and I slip and fall on the icy parking lot, landed on my side.
Ever since, including today, my chest (diaphragm muscles?) have hurt, Not sure if it's from Barfing? or from the fall?

On a positive note, My back continues to get better...still a tingle of nerve pain in right thigh and lower back where that nerve is being pinched.
The Chiro took another set of Xrays yesterday, as I may be at the first turning point in his program. We will consult about them on Monday after he has analyzed them.

Well, I have not officially done it yet, but this is the plan. Bought a Tuff Top canopy for the JD5200 at Wilton. Put it together the other night. Hoping I can wrestle this 52x52 canopy into the back of my Highlander by myself and not damage the interior. Step two is mount it on the ROPS of the tractor by myself. Of course, if I get lucky and someone is at the club, I may ask for assistance. It's not overly heavy. But it's kind awkward and not a lot of places to get a hold. I'm pretty sure if I can get it on top of the seat, I can climb in under it and then just lift it up and engage it into the mounting bracket on the ROPS.

I also have to bring the paint locker back to the club. It was a really nice wine cooler that a member donated. I gutted the compressor out of it and installed a light socket and a small ceramic 15W reptile cage heater. I knew I should have put a guard around that heater. But it made it thru the first winter with no issues. Last week they noticed paint running out the door. Somebody packed cans of paint in there and one was up tight to the heater. It blew the valve in the paint can and emptied is inside the cap which then ran out. The solvents in the paint actually melted a small area of the floor of the cooler. So, I brought it back home and made the wire guard I should have made last year. At least that thing is light.

Wish me luck with the canopy. If I think of it, I'll take pictures.

I need to buy a Homer Simpson mask.

Success!!!

Top would not fix in the SUV, so took out the trailer and hauled up that way.

Nobody at the club, which was probably better. Some guys just want to help even though you keep saying no thanks, and all they do is get in your way.

Top bracket went on the ROPS quickly and easily. Getting the top into the driver's seat was also a snap. From there it was pick it up and drop into the mounting slots in the ROPS bracket. Piece O' Cake. There are 5 different mounting positions that are like teeth. Of course even though was was checking, I managed to put the right side in the 3rd slot and the left in the 4th. I kept looking at the top and wondering why one side of the front edge was lower than the other. It wasn't until I climbed up the back of the tractor that I had a clear view of the rear mounting points and realized what I'd done. No big deal. Corrected things and it was now straight. I told you I needed to buy a Homer Simpson mask.

Here's the finished product. Pitched it back just a tad so any rain will run off the back of the canopy.

The trim/edge guard that is supposed to go on the front and rear edges of the canopy would not fit. It was obvious that it was intended for something much thinner than the canopy, which is about 0.170". I even tried to coax it with a mallet and all that did was spread it apart so it could not grip at all. I contacted the ebay vendor and sent photos of the problem. They are going to refund a portion of the purchase price. Fine with me. I don't think it needs that trim anyway.

Cost was just under $240 shipped. It looks like they are going to refund about $40 back to me, well, back to the club actually. I was just the middleman.

Ooh man Jon!!!

Sure enough rains it POURS!!!

Been there with Food Poison had it once real bad... real bad. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Falls on ice... shattered a elbow and broke a couple ribs walking home in a ice storm when my truck slid to the side of the road because if the roads crown and would not move.

Very glad the back is improving!

Prayers continue!

Sorry for your loss Dale. You have surely had a tough run of it friend. My prayers will continue and you remain in my thoughts. I don't know why bad things happen to good people...

Glad you found a good chiro!

I suggest you stop barfing and falling down. I've done both and neither was much of a hobby IMO. ;)

Matt came up and helped me catch, tag and load the few animals I had for tomorrows sale. 8 spring buck goats, 1 of last years wethers I missed, an apparently gay 2 year old buck that has zero interest in his sole reason for living and a very large, very grouchy, very strong ram I can no longer use. So 11 animals kept in 4 different stalls/pens. When I went out to feed tonight it seemed like about 25 less animals. Odd.

Also got the power run to the community Christmas Tree. The neighboring land owner donates the power and he donated a 250' roll of 12/2 wire. I normally run the wire out and then roll it up as the weather allows and store it here. Last year he decided to roll it up and store it. He's 88 years old! Anyway he hired some people to clean up his place (he's got $$$) and they took the carefully rolled wire and somehow turned it into a giant ball of twine. Spent close to an hour just untangling that mess. But it's done, he's agreed to let me handle the wire from now on and he also gifted me 2 of those fancy 5 gallon gas cans with the push button spout. Still gas in both cans too, but one has a hunk of ice floating in it the size of a loaf of banana bread! I think I know where his poor running lawn tractor got it's problems from!!

man,, worst beat down i ever got was by a 14 yo. Ram [sheep type] my FIL just had to have.
i chased him into a stable and went in after it, i got him out and into the truck, but i'm sure from the outside it looked like one of those comedy westerns where someone like James Garner say's i'll be right back and comes flying out the saloon window 2 seconds later.
only without a window.
few years later my buddy had a 6-7 y.o. goat he wanted me to help him with he got cornered in a shed at his dads place.
i walked in with my 9mm and put 2 in the head and walked back out......done.

That was an ancient ram. Just imagine what he could've done back in his prime!!! I once sold 8 gorgeous Katahdin ewes to a guy up here, only a couple miles from my place. I clued him in on what and how to handle them, worming, etc. Come late summer and I hear that the sheep got out and he and my other idiot neighbors tried chasing them, 4 wheelers, dogs, etc. Eventually the moron SHOT all 8 of them because he was too freakin' stupid to either, 1- realize you don't CHASE sheep, you herd them and leave their only option being where you want them to "escape" to, or 2- Make a 15 second phone call to me so that I, and the kids at the time, could have walked them right back to where they belonged. Nothing pisses me off more than freakin' brain dead morons that would shoot nice, prime animals in anger rather than stop for a second and think. Yeah, a totally unhandled, rank, worthless animal, I get it. Nicely bred ewes that were worth $250 a head and had many years of producing nice lambs ahead of them? Sheer idiocy.

Wind is back. Warm though. Girls are off to Christmas shop. I still have until 4PM 12/24, they seem to be in a rush. Might collect the rest of the net fence that needs doing and take another look for those spreader paddles. If it's not horrible out there's some backhoe work to do too.

Our dogs just don't get the whole "Saturday" concept. Up at 5, oh good.

Sometimes, shaking a couple inches of grain in a bucket will work, too.

The mild weather blew out over night and we are receiving some nice Canadian air right now, 17° and if it isn't making ice it's at least chilling the open water for some real cold to come.

"Course I wasted the nice 43° weather in a car yesterday, but as usual I was with my honey so it was a pleasant drive. I now own a really good rain suit for FISHING! I refuse to take chances on ordering over the net then having to return stuff. Darn, nobody makes stuff for short men. Hell, we even have our own syndrome, (;)), but we can't get rain gear with legs shorter that 36"? I feel like a Shar Pei with suspenders.

I was favorably impressed with Bass Pro Guide Gear, (except for the legs), but cannot abide what BP did to Cabela's, their employees, and the town of Sidney, NE. So instead we drove 3 1/2 hours one way to Appleton, WI Scheel's. Scheel's is employee owned and it shows. Consistent high quality interaction with staff going back years and years. I have never had even the slightest negative impression from dealing with a Scheel's employee. I bought their Outfitters Creel Bay rain suit and Sue got a pair of Vortex compact binoculars. Merry Christmas to us. That little adventure ate up most of the day.

Well, after 47 years I now know what a double-middle-ear infection earache feels like. SONOFABITCH. I thought I was gonna die last night. Can't hear nothin'. Got wifey up at 0700 to call the clinic since I can't hear on the phone. In first thing, yup, I bet that hurts, did you take your antibiotics? Me: Deer in headlights look...I thought you only prescribed oral steroids to start today after the shot on Tuesday. OH no, I'm sorry! You're really foggy aren't you? Me: Duhhhhhh, yeah, I am. OK we gotta get you on antibiotics pronto, here's a shot, and another steroid shot, and put off the oral steroids until Monday, and take your oral antibiotics immediately and pop in Monday for a quick look in your ears and maybe another antibiotic shot in the ass. Me: OK! Got it! I gained eight pounds since Monday, it's all sludge in my head holes. Still no idea what I have, not Covid, not Strep, not Flu, not Pneumonia, not a cold, still don't know if it's a virus or bacteria, but it's kicking my ass. At least I'm not dizzy or nauseated at the moment, the only thing I could think of that could make the pain between my ears worse is if I were puking.

Since I can't lay down and I'm down to about 60 IQ points I think I'll go play with dangerous machinery in the shop, sound like a plan?
