Knee really acting up... Called therapy and they saw me this AM. So I Spent the day relaxing it. Sizing bullets and sorting LR rims!!

Im on a bit of a LR kick...

My Marlin SQ is a tack driver but shooting two buddies I can see my stock is a limitation. So I fixed that with s order to Boyds for another Pro-Varmint stock. I was shocked ta see they cut one for the lil
marlin!!!

I put a trig Basix trigger in few years back and have shot it against alot of rifles and its always been one of the best.

Now ta find a assortment of better LR ammo. No one seems ta have. I stopped at a local range that does rifle and pistol competition. Eley Red, Blk and R50. I have all of these. Was hoping for some Eley club or long range or any SK ammo. Nope... I did find a few boxes of EPS R50.

they use it [cod roe] as a treat, candy it, bag it slice-dice, salt, sugar, shape,,, and freeze it.
i can't remember the word for it [and ain't gonna try] but it starts with an M.

anyway.
we got the whole mess up worked out with the pavers.
they sent a truck to make the delivery of something over to Littlegirls place, she sent them here.

they never made it the i can see it from here distance, but she got a phone call in the meantime saying the truck had just left the store and was coming to my place first [thehell?]

G-Girl,,,,let's go get some donuts and chocolate milk.... Jeeze for a 3 y.o you have some good ideas sometimes.

got home and dug out the big wheeler, then tried the starter expecting click at the best and got whirrr-whirr-whirr-vroom, well crap.
Jax come and bailed on like we were going somewhere.
which is nowhere.
since the gate is closed [i have to open the big gate from the outside] and the shed door blocks us from getting to it when it's open anyway.
pulled the wheeler out and the delivery guy is pulling up, same one as before, so he just pulls up and drops the pallet where it goes.
signed, and got a 'have fun' before he pulled away.

i think one more pallet of pavers and a little bit of cement at the gate entrances after the last boxes are set,,, and the top garden will finally be finished.
AKA 3-4-5 more years.... siigh.
whatever,,, on to more dirt.

I got a crown put on today. What fun.
Didn`t do much else.
I got 3 more roses planted and a few strawberries.
During this morning's bi-annual teeth cleaning, the doc came in, inspected the teeth, said one is cracked in two places and will need a crown, we can schedule it now or you can wait. I'm waiting till it cracks on a Friday evening and have to wait till some time the next week to see him.

While it wasn't very warm out after dark @ 47°, we did manage to pick up six dozen crawlers off a dark and untraveled back road. There were tens of thousands of grey earth worms out, but relatively few night crawlers. Still until I buy another bag of worm bedding, 6 dozen is about all I have space for.
I'll have to give some thought to tomorrow's reloading lesson. I'll be traveling to my friend's home and he and another buddy from the deer camp across the road from me will be there. They are as excited as kids. I'm trying to anticipate any shortfalls in the equipment they have scraped together thus far. Probably the best thing would be to try to work with what they have and make a list for them to shop for from there. I'm sure there is enough basic equipment for them to put together a few rounds under my watchful eye.

My Mom made fish soup out of pickerel, pike and other bony fish! My Dad was crazy for it. I could never get into the flavor and watery consistency! He would come from work and eat 3 to 4 bowls with fresh baked bread! My meal that usually came from those fish was the fried roe! I miss that treat these days!
Fish soup.
Huh? I grew up living on a Lake in MN and went fishing nearly every day when the lake was open, and once/twice a week when it was frozen. Never had fish soup. Now I am hankering to try making some. For the last year or so, I've been on a kick of making bone brothe out of Rotisserie Chicken carcasses...so I have an idea how to do it with fish. I suppose I better buy a fishing license this year :D

yeah Dale i threw some water at the yard yesterday.
looked at it today and it's bone dusty dry,,, the only 'wet' part is the last 3-4 foot of the south side of the yard with about 2' of snow/ice covering it.
maybe Tuesdays snow will fix it up.

Jon.
look up bouillabaisse.
it literally means 'from the net' and it comes in a 2 course meal.... it's isn't just 'fish soup' when done right.
but the ingredients are all the little rough fish that got tossed out since nobody would buy them.

Too funny! I love NE/cream based clam chowder. Lately, have tried it as fish soup and love it! And yeah, now I want some too!

Planted my tomatoes way too early. With all this rain looks like I am starting to get root rot. Tomato bed will not drain if the water level is above the 4x4's. :( Don't have time, or a place to replant right now. So wishing for the best. If they survive next I will be fighting slugs. Well at least I have my cherry tomato plant in a pot on the porch. So I will have those. And the peppers are in a higher bed and thriving. Of course nothing kills the dill, wild garlic and leeks. Once the come on, they are in it for the long hall.
Just wish I could get a couple dry summy days to roll around in the dirt and work on the vehicles.

Had the rear wheel lock up in the truck. Would not back out. Drum brakes. Son thought the transmission went out.
Went and grabbed the 10 lb sledge. Neighbor who has a long nose thought I was going to bash up the truck. LoL.
One smack on the rear hubs each. Then I got in it and backed it up. Got out and told the boy. Go ahead and take it to work. Just treat the brakes like you are stepping on eggs, and allow plenty of assured clear distance. Plus Don't park where you have to back up.

Guess I am going to have to get on the truck soon. Now that we are up to 3 issues. Rear Brakes or Emergency brake; rear shocks, and the Gas tank Switching valve.

Ps. Factoid.
Did you know that on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Throttle position sensor has a major direct effect on the transmission shift quality. It don't even have to throw a code, or be bad enough to cause the engine to have issues. After changing, adjusting cables, bushings and the neutral safety switch etc. Most of my issues were gone.
But It still slam shifted from 1st to 2nd and held out the shift to 3rd.

In desperation took it to the local transmission guy. Was thinking major internal issue or at least shift solenoids.....
$75 for diagnosis which found nothing causing the crazy shifts.
But finding nothing on that model told him what the issue was. So for another $25 he installed a TPS. Shifts like a new car!!!
Thing is I think the TPS thing was brought up before but I slipped my mind.or I just passed it off.
It had needed the stuff I changed. But to finish the job, also needed the experience of a 65 year old man who knows his stuff. Lucky I found an honest fellow who knows what ain't in the books. And not totally dependent on a machine to tell him what to fix.:)

I make a kind of bouillabaisse when I have a large sunfish catch. Cook it down with a little Worcestershire sauce. Add Leeks Wild Garlic and carrots, and or whatever root vegetable is handy. With a little White pepper.
Not traditional but a good campfire stew. Served with any hardy bread and a little butter, or pesto.

I made a version while survival camping once. Pond water filtered thru a sock. Blue gill, turtle, pine nuts, wild mustard, wild carrots, and chicken of the woods. Was a little rough on first swallow, but was pretty tasty once I got used to the combo.

The last cheek chowder I made was basically a cream based clam chowder using walleye cheeks instead of clams. I did cut the cheeks up in smaller pieces. Bacon, onion, carrots, potatoes, celery, clam juice, Old Bay seasoning, water, salt and pepper. Cook the diced cheek pieces about 10 minutes before you want to serve it when you add the half and half or cream. Oh and a dollop of butter right at service. Oyster crackers go nicely.

Sadly, yes, I am aware... And also why I HATE the newer Jeep I-6s. That damned throttle sensor can take years off your life!

There is an obvious question to be answered here.
I used to go on 3 day, thru two week long survival camping trips. Different parts of the country, different times of the year. Once in the Mountains of Kentucky for an entire month.
Often taking nothing but a small medicine bag with a fire starter and a knife, and a cooking pot. Plus the clothes on my back.

Over the years.
Family, change of careers, and my health have slowly taken my ability to do that away. Now I am down to doing half days excursions.
