Question. How to tell if an auto has flood or other major water damage. GK (Houston) is looking for 4 whl dr. (don't know why) 4 runner or Highlander, found a couple but flood damage. And I don't trust the 'fox'. I know, smell test but what else?

Work's last 15 years were pretty stressful, especially the last 10 with me being the only earner.
In early 1996, Mrs. smokeywolf and I agreed that she would be a full time mom. For 11 years before that, I was a single parent. That started when my #1 son was not quite 3 years old; so about 1985. With the exception of about 2 years when Mrs. smokeywolf had a short-lived, but very successful business, I was sole wage earner in the house. So, for about 30 years I was sole provider in my/our household.

Sole wage earner for the household is tricky and stressful. More than once the Mrs. and I ate top ramen/w a little diced green onion, celery, frozen corn and some diced chicken mixed in for dinner for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. I remember one time, selling a branding iron to a friend for $25 so we could afford a couple of gallons of milk and some fruit and vegetables. Granted, we had assets and/or investments we could have liquidated that would have carried us thru for months or longer, we'd have taken a loss of hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars by liquidating/divesting too soon.

I'm very much against children being raised or regularly baby-sat by people outside the family.

With my wife's handicaps. Always been the only earner and driver. Only thing that made sense.
Oh we tried to have her work. but it always cost us more time and money trouble then she could make up for working. Working regular hrs. cost us hours of pt. Driving ye we tried that, another nightmare.
My wife has always done an excellent job as a traditional house wife, My meals are always made, laundry always done and house kept fairly clean. She did some baby sitting on the side, or helping out the older neighbors for some extra spending cash. but it really was never enough to contribute to household expense.
A bit difficult at times.

Today, I baled the back yard. Or, I should have
Boy, Isn`t that the truth.
I mowed a couple of days ago and it looks like it needs it again.
I didn`t get much done today.
I vacuum sealed the nephews snack sticks this morning.
The grass isn`t the only thing growing like crazy.
I sprayed weeds also.

what a day.
dirt guy had truck problems, was 5 hrs. late, then to make up for it brought me a couple 'extra' yards.
crap dude i already ordered 10, i don't,,,,, wait, yeah i do,,, never mind.
nicely screened out dirt, and cheap,, can't complain.
only problem is he was so late i still have all the 'extra' piled up out front.

my forearms are cramping, my bad leg is killing me, my face is sun burnt, my back hurts, and i'm slightly dehydrated.
all the boxes are full and 10 would have been perfect.
guess the recycle boxes are gonna be full again....
now i gotta go get the broke down horse poop, and the rest of the chicken hut stuff to top it all off with.

Mixed up 25 gallons of 24-D, diesel, and water mix to shoot thistles/cockleburs/ bull nettles tomorrow with my better half.
We also need to cut down a small honey locust thicket and Tordon the stumps.
But that can wait.

I truly enjoy retirement. I try to have fun. I finally got over the guilt feelings my Dad always got when he had fun but felt he should have been doing something "useful."
If I want to fish, I go. Ride motorcycle? I go. Shoot? I do. Hang out with my honey? We do.
Fished Monday and Tuesday a total of 9 1/2 hours with my buddy Jimmy. We brought home 95 white bass and two walleyes. Caught a number of short walleyes in the 13" to 14 3/4" range. They have to be 15" to keep, and up to 20" or they fall in the slot limit.
My shoot here at Thorn Hollow is coming up the end of May and June 1. I served up 168 white bass fillets last year. This year the fish fry will be Friday's Supper and whole fire roasted venison hind quarter for Saturday's Supper. So I have the fish fillets covered now.

We hang together. Since Mrs. smokeywolf's CHF diagnosis 3 years ago, I can't bring myself to be out of sight or earshot of her for more than 10 minutes or so. Doggies are never left alone. Malamutes (and wolves) suffer greatly from separation anxiety. Timber came pretty close to chewing through the front door when "his mommy" took the boys to school one day in around 2009. She was only gone 20 minutes. We had to replace the entire front door.
Parents had a blind collie that used to sit between them on Dad's Harley. That was in about 1946.

Hot and humid. Car wash place did a good job getting the bug junk off, all the crumbs from the interior cleaned. Frontier guy came out, tried to fix the audio/video sync problem on the TV. They had an order to change out the set-top box, never happened but ticket said it did. He changed the 3 port splitter for a 2 port, checked everything and will try to fix it, download new SW to box. Good luck! She has trouble following the shows when the guy speaks but audio is from the gal. Loaded 12 rnds of 310 sized for the BO. Maybe get to try Fri?

I got some more potting soil to pot up my seedlings to 3" pots. Those I have done already have been outside since it has been so warm Harding off. Today it was time to bring those into dappled sun.
I still have about the last third to finish. We have two below normal days coming.... Sunday and Monday, so will have to try to bring them in the. The rest of the month looks above average which is great for the plants.
My Doc called in a Cortisone Pak for me to hope it gives me some relief from the Sciatica Spasms ! Last night I had no pain sleeping! (First night in 3 weeks) Had some spasms today but A heat pack helped. Got them from trying to do too much since I was feeling better.
He also scheduled me for some Cortisone shots but the place that does them are backed up so it may be a couple weeks to get in.

My dog is tearing up my back yard... She literally has a groove from racing around the deck.
Im tired of it a d fixed that today...

Trip to home Depot and 89$ later I had a piece of lattice a gate latch, two hinges and a 25' roll of Green chicken wire and some screws and trim boards. A piece of old fencing makes a gate.
Then I started attaching the chicken wire to the lower rail of my deck and its base.
In a effort to shop her from jumping off deck to get around gate. The thin green wire is all but invisible against grass.

We will see what happens tomorrow when she forgets and goes out to do her business.
Next I need ta move dirt around to level the "grooves". Then plant grass seed.

Nice project yard should look better by summer!!
