IBO finals was the absolute biggest clusterf**k I've ever seen in 40 years of shooting bows. A blankety blank clerical error saw me as the only longbow in the recurve class..... I'm so past it,it ain't funny. Managed a top 10 finish, even though.

Will say, both me and the youngest WERE the best prepared from a fitness standpoint. AND,we were...along with maybe,3 other shooters the only guys with bow quivers.

We had fun, drank some beer, camped like what trad shooters do.... didn't get arrested. Don't see us going back. It's a completely different crowd. We're used to,BIG.....like REALLY BIG, shoots. These folks have a maybe 500 shooter following. We're used to 1000's.

Now for the best part.....

We're a VERY modest crew when it comes to camping. I sleep in the Buick, the youngins all are, raised on the AT..... backpack pros. My single burner stove got beat the heck up over the last 10+ years..... so to splurge, bought new one to go glamping last weekend.

So today.... sort of licking my wounds,Floydfest/IBO world, figured some bullet casting is in order. So used the old single burner and an ancient RCBS pot as the sprue collector. Meaning, normally I just blank sprues back into the Lyman 10#'r.

Been that way for decades. No thermometer no PID,no nuthin but talent casting.

But today, changed it up..... the best part is all the food funk, spilt on that old single burner, haha. I ran a cpl hunert,7mm then, ran a bunch of 22's. Both of which were some of the best drops from these ghetto Lee molds. About halfway through..... started breaking in a new Lee .30 150g mold. It did, OK.

Smelled like hotdogs.... alloy was cleaned range scrap at about 3-1 with Rotometal, dang near lino.

Coco.... my best friend, hasn't been around casting too terribly much. Was so proud of her today.

A year or so ago,I finished an upstairs BR for wifeypoo. That,WAS my casting room. Spoiled rotten just don't do justice. Had electric evac system.... dang I loved that spot.

Well,in a state of flux.... have been searching for a new casting spot. Can't say I found it but,it is an honorable mention. Went out in the "race shed" (stupid fast cars and bikes live here) and set up.

Co,was interested at first, with some safety concerns.... then,as the casting started to hit the "pace" she found other places to hang out. All's good..... with hotdog smell waffling in the shed....

One of our yard Deer shows up..... they've become friends with Cocomut.... and off they go. So,with the blue ridge mnts in the background,lead.... on the boil, she's playing with her friends. All in all, really good stuff.

OK,one addinum.... the youngest was shooting one of our Smithbros, inhouse bows. It was and is,off the hook in tradbow world. He had been shooting a prototype PSE ,riser with some inhouse limbs up until just a cpl week's before the finals. He/we were on the ragged edge of dryfiring.....but,dangit that bow had been on a terror for at least 3 seasons before he got it.

About 2 weeks before the finals,he's shooting in some local and the upper limb takes a dump. Just sayin, the amount of concern that went down in that 2 weeks was, holy cow.

Him and I went to a pre IBO shoot a week later. How fast his completely new bow got setup, simply can't be put into words. We were at a pro shoot the weekend before the finals...... yes,at a PSE dealer. Brand new.... and believe me,the factory don't know what we're doing with their product..... just sayin, for us to put together a winning, stupid accurate/fast combination that quick before a major was,not only fun but,a testiment to what diligence and passion brings to any sport.

Just keep that in mind when someone chits on your parade.

Nothing much, went to the local hosp. this morning while long time freind had shoulder surgery. Sat & talked with his wife, took a long time to recovery, low O2. Left at one, got a call at two, keeping him overnight, one lung isn't working right, something about the spinal block went awry. Replaced the flapper in the commode. She realized she forgot the GS birthday. She also couldn't find her phone, called it several times and could hear but not find. She left it on the patio overnight! Getting to be like her mom, gotta get her a wallet with the chain. Maybe I could get a Harley from the deal? Bro just emailed a time for Mom's 100th party.

Way OT, but does anyone have any experience with Mitsubishi vehicles? SWMBO wemt car shopping to replace the nightmare Explorer and is testing an '18 Outlaner with a 4 banger and what Mitsubishi calls a "constant velocity transmission". I know nothing about Mitsu's other than they made great airplanes in WW2 and they make good solid medium sized cab over type trucks.

Anyone?

come with a blinged-out Kenworth. I've seen those too. Can't count the times I go back to get glasses, phone, credit card, purse, etc. Waiting till she topples the shelves in the garage cause she don't pay attention. Took some cup cakes out of the freezer, asked her if she meant to leave them in the garage. Oh.

Sometimes, it's the simple and inexpensive things that improve one's life. Three-bucks for a Glock extended magazine release, and magazines now drop without me having to go through contortions and change my grip.

Cvt is coming to all small autos. So are turbos. Complete rebuild to fix anything. Ford tried with the Americanized Capri, dumped it. Subaru, Nissan, bmw, toy. All going cvt. Cafe again.

parts for the mitsu's I've seen are ridiculously expensive, they make the German parts look reasonable.
they also seem to waver on fuel economy.

maybe improved since I looked into them [shrug] but that's been my impression of them ever since.

pretty mundane day.
tied up some Tayberry bushes [damn things are going everywhere] brought in a couple pounds of spinach, a bag of lettuce, some turnips, and a few summer squash.
took little girls old fridge to the dump, then beer battered and deep fried some squash while the 2 girls made some beef stroganoff.
finally convinced Littlegirl that my recipe for beer batter is better than her too thick one.

Huh. I dunno, 100k mile power train warranty, rust through warranty, seems to drive nice enough for a small car. It's surely more a replacement for the Escape than the Explorer. Up to her I guess. I'll keep researching. Still going to try to find an older Burb in good shape for the "big" car for the monthly shopping trips, etc.

Knocked some hay down, parts are starting to trickle in for repairs, supposed to be pretty hot next few days.

Other site has a moving moose target, this is better. Vid too big, but moving piggie target from friend and his GS. Moving about 10 yds a sec. (20mph). GK got it with 223 @ 50.

Don's blood suger is down (was 220 from soda they gave him) and O2 up from 82 (75 is BAD and 97 is normal) so should be going home today. Spine block got the diaphram - by mistake?

G-son got his first real lesson in the English language.

as in the word HOT has more than one meaning, but they all pretty much mean your gonna burn some part of your body in some way.
I also got to remember not to rub near your eyes when you have been handling and eating dried Thai peppers.
[reeally hard not to when your laughing so hard you have tears, at someone that insists on stealing a dried pepper, and trying to eat the whole thing before his mom can stop him]

me. what are you doing,, get away from those.
boy. please..
me. they are Hot, you don't want one.
boy,, not hot... see [picks one up]
me...no that's hot, put it back
boy. not hot.
mom. PUT THAT DOWN IT'S HOT!!!
boy.. not whaaaaaa hot blech ptui hot hot hot... MOOOOmmm hot.
well,,, whattayado at that point?

it's also hard to remove the seeds from a 3/4" long pepper just so you can have something more like crushed red pepper flakes, pepper, and... some OMG that's spicy and burning every crack around my lips and throat hot, crushed pepper. [perfect for making Thai noodles]
which is what we were in the middle of doing.

Went to the range. Shot 20 rounds of 444 and 200 45 ACP thru the 1911. Minor miracle, I found every case!
Did bring home 30 pounds or so of range scrap. Busy melting down a 5 gallon bucket full right now.
A week from Monday the siding and window replacement begins.

That's funny, Fiver, Jackie just had that lesson too. She's very fond of tortilla chips and even more so of finding things to dip them in. Same with nuggets and fries or broccoli, snap peas, etc. Her favorite is charro bean juice st restaurants. So we sit down at one of our favorite restaurants and of course they put the chips and salsa down before we can get settled in and she climbs halfway across the table to get a chip...and in one smooth motion dunks it in the salsa and almost gets it to her mouth befoe her mother intervenes. Small tantrum ensues. We explain "hot", pouting ensues. She tries again in a few minutes and again is thwarted. When the waiter comes to take our order Jackie goes for the salsa again, this time me, Meg, and the waiter all say in unison "no! That's HOT but we let her decide for herself if she's gonna listen or find out the hard way. Funny how parents can read each other's minds sometimes and be on the same page. You know the rest of the story.

Kids and hot foods--none of ours believed us either. A rite of passage.

Will be heading out shooting tomorrow with an old partner from work. 586 x 6" and 617 x 6"/6-shot will go along, as will the Rem 788 x 22-250 re-barrel and the CZ-527 in 22 Hornet. I need a shooting trip--most of the desert ventures with Marie turn into missions-other-than-shooting, which I put up with but gets old with repetition.

This trip will be in the desert also, to a public range in Lucerne Valley. The heat isn't too bad lately, but we may end up dodging monsoon storms which have been kinda strong. The reason that heat isn't bad is those monsoon rains. A couple days ago, Borrego Springs State Park (west of the Salton Sea) had its outside temps drop 40* inside 15 minutes when the downpour got serious--105* to 65*. Desert stuff, and YES it gets uber-humid at such times. Redlands has been near 100* with high humidity for 4-5 days, owing to the rains east of us. We get a bit of rain in the mid-afternoon, not enough to cool things down much but more than enough to makes things sultry and humid.

We will try to not get wet or struck by lightning tomorrow. Partner also has a VW Bug transaxle from the late 60s he is hauling to a shop for a rebuild. That shop is in Yucca Valley, southwest of Lucerne Valley some distance. Long day ahead.

About a year ago the wife and I were at a garage sale near Kevin's part of the country. In a water soaked box outside the garage door, was an old Pacific, single stage shotgun shell reloader, in all it's rusted glory. Lady didn't know where her deceased husband had got it and said he wasn't even a shooter. Half bag of Hawk wads and about 50 water filled Federal hulls. She was going to have it hauled away, gladly took $10.00 for it. Got it home and cleaned it up and painted it to original colors of red and black. Actually looked and worked well! I put it with my other presses and kinda forgot about it.
My 24 yo grandson has been showing an interest in shot shell reloading and loading some in my shop. Two days ago I gave him the press and 500 AA hulls, along with enough components to load 200. He was out in ND working (well maintenance) three weeks ago, and had a lunge collapse. He's a tall skinny kid, and the doctor told him that was not uncommon, but the first any of us had heard of such a thing. Anyway he had an operation to have his lung "glued" to the chest lining somehow, and is recovering now. Suppose to be able to return to work in about a month if all goes well. So today my wife gets a video clip from my Grandsons wife, of my grandson and two year old great grandson, reloading shotgun shells. I kinda got a giggle out of that. Might have to take them some more primers, powder, and wads tomorrow.
