At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Well done Ian! That pic shows more vegetation than any other pic so far. Prior to this I thought the whole place was grey rock!

Rally, I had one of those spells not long ago. Never did figure it out. Time to step back and evaluate things. We ain't spring chickens anymore. Congrats on the kiddo!

Carry. I do and I don't. It's a pain, and yet it isn't. To each their own. The way things are headed it may not end up being an option anyway.

Rained most of yesterday. Moved the sheep and babysat a sick kid most of the day. Moms on her way home so we gotta clean up our mess.

Starting the slog homeward this AM, straight-through to Orlando and at least 2 nights there kids still want to do 1 or 2 of the theme parks. Whatever makes 'em happy. Marie needs a "down" day or 2 to rest up and do homework from online classes before The Banzai Run back to the PRK, NLT Wednesday morning commencement. Might arrive in 'Lando in time for Sunday Night Football. I am glad that my Raiders cut ties with that Antonio Brown thug-culture Ewok.

he didn't come out on the short end, check out the paycheck he pulled from the Patriots.
[unless i read or remember the little banner thing wrong it's something like 10mil this year [6 guaranteed?] with 5 mil in bonuses available]
I'd say someone had prior contact and a deal was brewing behind the scenes before all the nonsense started.
not that I care one way or the other what they do,,, but the money has gotten out of hand for playing with a ball.

got up a touch early this morning after staying up waay too late to watch a couple of college football games.
it was worth the loss of sleep [got like 4 hrs. so not really a loss] to see Lewis Hamilton not win a race.
I'm the president of the anybody but Lewis club.

My interest in Formula 1 began to wan when Proust started winning every race and championship, and completely ended when Schumacher took up the torch. I understand the technological cutting edge concept of the formula, having started following it in '70 or '71, but the introduction of computers was an immediate turn-off.

he might as well be a kardashian.

I don't care if someone wins every race every year for 5 years, it's racing.
if you don't like it build a better car or hire a better driver [or in Ferrari's case stop screwing your driver over through strategy]
whining when your in second because they did build a faster car, or if your team mate passes you is annoying.
being a half arrogant butthole in general beyond that goes to another level.

I don't know . . .
It became boring watching the same guy always winning, while the back-markers were the only drivers who were doing any passing and "racing".

No doubt, though, that every decade or so a driver or car/team comes along that reign supreme for an inordinate period of time.

As to egos: I'm old enough to remember when athletes competed for the love of the sport, rather than the love of money. Willy Mays, Johnny Unitas, Bob Cousy, Phil Hill . . .

Allen, if you have a down day in N.Central Fla, consider going to Ichetucknee Run and renting a tube to float down
for a few hours, if you are up for water on the prosthesis. Beautiful crystal clear fast running river. Rent a mask
and look down as you float by.

Or go up to Rodman Reservoir at Palatka and do some serious largemouth bass fishing. Rodman is filled with
big ones.

Now you are in my old stomping grounds.

Or go out to Ginnie Springs and swim for the afternoon. This was a wild spring in a cow pasture with a two sand paths
"road" when I went to college in G'ville, now built up, but much more user friendly at the same time.

Or much closer to The Mouse, Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight museum is marvelous, but I think it has curtailed
some of their exhibits and you should call to verify hours and even if they are fully open these days. This is
one guy's flying aircraft collection, and he has made them available for viewing, although has had it closed some
and then reopened, not certain of current status, I THINK it is open.

Only ~25ish miles from The Mouse.
I lived on Key West two different times, early 60s.

Lewis is a VERY good driver. But I am NOT a fan, he has been a bit of a "drama person" for me. But I
can honestly say that he is likely the best driver ever. :( I have to grit my teeth when I say that, because
of his personality hits me very wrong.
Michael spoke about Alain Prost....a true gentleman to Senna's schoolboy tantrums, although he did rightfully repay
Senna at Suzuka one year. :D:D:D
Schumacher worked VERY hard, was very talented, improved Ferrari team's work immensely, and made it all work.....to the
point that at times if was boring. Now Ferrari struggles, many "Italian errors" made, unfortunately. Mercedes are very good
cars, and Lewis drives them very well, even as I root against them every race. Leclerc is an up and coming great
driver, and not a grandstander like Lewis used to be, and still is to a degree (although he has matured a good
bit). I think Leclerc will be a true champion.

DON'T tell me of results, I am out of touch, want to see the races when I get home.

the beer batter takes a little practice to get the consistency just so, but once you see it you'll be good to go from then on.
too thick and it puffs up and bleh.
too thin and it doesn't coat quite right.
get it right and you'll be reaching for some onions to cook next.

We started beer batter onions this year whilst camping, using regular yellow and white varieties. Very easy,a lot less trouble than I had previously thought. Even on cheap single burners.

Any participant that brings the drama and politics with them into the venue causes me to change the channel or go out to the garage and do something sensible and meaningful--like creating 44 Magnum cast SWC loads running in the 1000 FPS ballpark. 'Redhawk Wadcutters' is my pet name for such combinations. 9.5 x Unique or 10.5 x Herco, all day loads in the RH or Bisley Hunter. Same loads in 45 Colt/BH get about the same results, using Lyman #454424 or #454190. Goodness, but these are FUN to shoot.

We've had a reasonably wet year here and this is the "low" part of the land where there is more caliche and clay "topsoil" than elsewhere, plus I cut all the cedar back from this part of the fence a long time ago and light + water + penetrable ground = tall grass. During an abnormally wet year a post hole near the side gate will stand full of water for months due to a superficial water table.

Bill, the side gate is close enough to the meter pole for me to use a 100' welder extension cord so I just dollied out my ancient Lincoln tomestone machine for the job of welding the gate hinges in place. Got the water gap done today, so aside from painting the gates and welding hinges on a walk-through gate, I'm officially half done fencing my property. At least that half is dog proof now.

good form on the head support BW.

plenty of college football on this weekend, I will have to catch some of them on the re-plays ESPN shows throughout the week to see half of them.

snuck out for a bit of grouse looking tonight.
they don't seem to have moved down in the close by canyon yet.
but,, with the cold rain we have had off and on all day it won't be too much longer.

I did see a herd of Elk with a couple of 'needs 1-2 more years' bulls out in front, and a few deer out wandering around in the rain.
I come home early.
have to go check a couple of my other [higher] spots during the week.

Is the A/C museum still open in Pensecola? Friend said opening day (dove) was pretty sparse south of Abilene. Showed me vid of 7 guys assaulting a hog with rifles this time. She upped the cable to get sports channels so I go out and load ammo. Can't take the hollering from someone who knows little about football rules (and having to explain what the call was about). Did watch a few college games, K-State, Huskers, UT. 5 overtime games this week? Even my kids have NO interest in the Cowboys.
