A quote from the Hogdons/Winchester site: “is ideal for 6 Creedmoor, 6GT, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7MM-08, 270 Winchester”.

sounds pretty similar to 4350 then,,, except they skipped the 30-06 and 243 Winchester.

now your just gonna get me going about them not being able to make no damn powder because they got too many damn powders to make.

so... wind you up and drop a 5 Mark coin in your slot. Beer and popcorn and enjoy the entertainment value! My forte'!

AND, funny the 4350 ref. My 6.5 Swede liked that!

To hell with all of these new fuels you can't find anywhere anyway--and quit turning wrenches on stuff that isn't broken!
TOTALLY agree - except... I can't find the old unbroken, but I AM finding new (some to me) stuff. the 6.5 ball is TOTALLY new. The A-2230 is totally new TO ME - but Fiver says buy all I can, and I WILL!

Oscar I seen all this coming down the pike back when I was working.
I'd almost be embarrassed to be called a hoarder if I said how much 2230 and other stuff I have sitting in the various cabinets.
still wouldn't have been a bad idea for me to not have cheaped out at the last price hike and bought maybe 3 more jugs of the rifle powders I like to use.
but by then my focus had shifted over to building up shot shell stock, so the monthly funds were being allocated in that direction.
no real regrets except I should have been using the o'l computer and the brown truck rather than perusing the local supplies.
and I probably shouldn't have got locked in on some of the foreign products because of their slight savings at the time, but now I have them and if I can't replace them in the future I will just have to suck it up and move along back to what I was doing initially.

either way?
I'm still out there pulling the trigger and that's all that really matters.

I WISH I could find some IMR 4895 for the Garand. I am not going to sue the 2230 for the 308 and keep what little 4895 I have for the Garand.

Anyone used 2230 in a Garand?!?

L Ross, a kindred spirit! I thought it was just me!!! ;)
Not hardly!

I'm not dismissing this powder out of hand just because it's new. A ball powder that runs slower than WW-760/H-414 could have some real utility--you all know of my fondness for ball powders by now, because they meter so nicely and consistently in my RCBS measures, throw-to-throw. IMRs 4350 and 4831 (old cut) are a PITA to load into the 6.5 x 55, scaling and trickling up each load. If this one fits somewhere around those slower stick powders in terms of burn rate/pressure curve/gas yield, I would be keenly interested. Time for a data hunt, methinks.

ETA--Watched a couple YooToob videos (Ultimate Reloader), he places it roughly between H-4350 and H-4831. The only data set was for (imagine my surprise) javelin-tossing with 25 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

44.5 to 49.5 with a 150
41.5 to 46.0 with a 165/8
those will duplicate the m2 ball and m72 match rounds pretty close.

If it is as slow as CZ93X62 posted, won't it bend the operating rod on a Garand? Between 4350 4831 sounds a little on the slow side. I have no real experience with this, more of a question.

sorry I was responding to Oscar about the 2230 question.
I should have been more clear.

the staball stabal,,,, whatever, would be on the slow side for a Garand, but it should be pretty darn good in a bolt gun.
probably never see any data for the X57 cases either, but it'd do yeoman's work in them also.

Fiver - Pls clarify - the above is for 2230 in 308, correct?

(and, as L Ross stated, the 6.5 powder should/would be expected to be too slow for the Garand! wasn't thinking when I asked that!)
