Ian, I never had cravings of any kind after the first week or so of breaking old habits. I also never found anything I can recall that might have been additional stress related, and this was all post 9/11 while on the job, so the stress was definitely there and I've always been a moody sob and have been diagnosed with depression...like 99% of the rest of us would be. I just felt great seeing my fat old bod shrink. I was taking up a belt notch every week or so. They made me get smaller uniforms. If anything, it was a rush!

Yeah, you can start doing limited carbs after you start getting closer to where you want to be. Ritz crackers and cottage cheese was a treat for me. Or I'd splurge and get a half order of home fries with my ham and eggs. Salsa, and I mean the canned stuff from "NYC!!!". not the fire based stuff you Texicans like, slathered on a giant sized cheese burger (no bun) was a treat. Once you get down where you wanna be you start eating more veg and some bread products. That's usually when you start down the road to perdition and gaining weight if you aren't careful.

Update:
Last Thursday (the 20th), I had an appointment with the surgeon. He didn't think the insurance would pay for this. The attending Dr did. She recommended to make some necessary appointments for when the insurance co approves it. They approved it the next day (Friday). I had an MRI on Monday. They pushed the surgery date out to the end of April, due to the custom hardware that needs to be made. Now it's just a waiting game for me until the two appointments I have one week before the surgery. I'm gonna try walking more, to get the muscles in the best shape possible.
So, my surgery is scheduled for 6 weeks from now, I am curious if the Hospitals are full of sick people, as predicted, I wonder what the chances are that my surgery might be postponed?

Worry about it (or not) in six weeks. Best of luck to you with all of it. I need major surgery myself very soon but am more concerned about the expected difficulties with that than the ones getting all the press at the moment.

The situation with the pandemic is a highly volatile, dynamic situation. The virus is very, very infectious.
In Norway, big decisions were made yesterday. All schools/universities closed for two weeks (the kids stay home, and have online teaching). All sports events cancelled for two weeks. All cultural events cancelled. Hair dressers, beauty salons etc closed. Total ban on foreign travels for health care professionals.

And if that wasn’t enough; shooting ranges are also closed for the duration of the month.....

Yesterday, in my hospital, we cancelled all non-critical elective surgery, and other appointments of a non-critical nature. Which means pretty much all our elective orthopedic surgery for the next weeks is put on hold. Only cancer surgery and emergency cases, naturally.

So, you’ll just have to wait and see I guess. But it wouldn’t be surprising if the pandemic affects the capacities of your hospitals, and other functions as well. Best of luck!

Hospitals are not that full of people with Coronavirus. Many will never even know they have it. And hospital worth going near will keep those who tested positive in Isolation.
I highly doubt any delays will occur for other procedures at this point.

I honestly don't think anyone can say with any certainty what things will be like in 6 weeks. This is already gone far beyond where I thought it would be by this time.

A friend of mine booked all of his stuff for 2 weeks in Florida and the Bahamas . Almost everything they had booked/planned is locked out of will be soon and if they wait they may not even be able to fly back home to Reno . 5 days ago , no problem , day 3 he's looking at buying a back lot hurricane survivor car to drive home .

Hope they put it back on correctly. BIL had his done last year, better than new - almost. He did go skiing while after. Said the bend the calf back to touch the thigh, slit down the middle and don't have to move the kneecap so recovery is much faster. Still they make a 3d model and sculpt a replacement. I need both but have to get the artery stable first.

Do not scrimp on the rehab exercises or you won't get your mobility back. My brother had both done at the same time....his roommate had one, the roommate didn't follow up with the rehab PT and his knee barely flexes. Rehab is painful, breaking down scar tissue but absolutely necessary.

No matter which way they put it back together.

Jon.....Will they allow family members to be with you? Where I am there is only patient and nurses! No family allowed! I think that sucks!
My brother was moved into a Rehab Facility but his wife still can not visit him!

Jim, after seeing the effects of no visitation on both my father and my mother in law I came to realize one simple truth.
What do they do i prison to punish people? They put them in isolation.

And that is what we are doing with seniors all across the nation. We may protects them physically but we are destroying them mentally,

No rant, Brad, just an observation of reality.

My neighbor of 45-years died in the hospital during the early days of house arrest. His wife of close to 60-years was not allowed to visit him. Sadly, he died all alone. It still bothers me.

I do plan to do the rehab exercises...I am doing all the pre-surgery exercises.

JW, I am surely on board...not exactly sure what you are meaning by that? ...Also, you are correct, No family, no coach...just hospital staff. I'm OK with that for this. I hope to be in there only 2 days (one night). They said some people go home same day, If they think I can go that quick, I'm gonna find a way to stretch it out to stay overnight, even if I gotta pay out of pocket, since I live alone.

Since you live alone............recommend you prepare meals, ahead of time, for at least the first two weeks. You'll be glad you did.

you'd go pretty hungry around here if you depended on someone not related to you bringing you food.

I could probably swing a delivery or two from the one grocery store, but with no one to cook it it'd be a waste of time.
I guess someone could order a flat of cookies and a case of chips,, but yeah well you know.
