A guy once told me he lived in a small town of only 18,000 . I said there's not that many people in my whole county , an my county is almost as big as Maryland . The town I live in now is bigger by 40ish , all 348 of them . No food services here either 22 mi to Walmart 12 the other way to McDs or Pizza hut in the whopping city of 3200 . The American place , next door to McDs , delivers 15 miles since "the outbreak" .

I live six miles out of town, population @ 13K...................they don't deliver food but @ half way. The cut off is the Moose Lodge. Same with sewer, natural gas and cable TV. :headbang:

Since you live alone............recommend you prepare meals, ahead of time, for at least the first two weeks. You'll be glad you did.
Well, that is what the book said, and others told me that also.
I honestly can't imagine this would be necessary. Spending 35+ years living alone, if I don't feel like cooking, I'll just eat some salami and cheese and a can of smoked oysters. While some meals I prepare are complicated and extravagant, other times they are so simple, that I am reasonably sure I can cook them with only one good leg.
With that said, I have been know to cook a large 3+ lb meatloaf on the smoker and nibble on that for a week. I'll likely do that the day before surgery. I also thought about smoking a Turkey...we'll see

It's a different world today Charles. Computer made parts that fit only you, no surgeon artistic skills to make it fit, even better materials.

I don't agree. My wife has to wear a lift in her left shoe, because her highly respected and much sought after knee doc screwed up and made her right knee replacement too long.
Computers: still garbage in, garbage out.

OK, doing more thinking on this. I pulled a 14 lb turkey out of the freezer. I've never grilled/smoked a turkey. Also, I've always wanted to do one spatchcocked. It should be thawed out in a couple days, then brine overnight. Smoke it next Mon or Tue, then put most of it in the freezer for meals after surgery.

I don't share your enthusiasm for getting hacked upon. However, I'm not in any pain or experiencing much disability at the moment, either. Hope all goes well for you, Jon.

I put up with various degrees of knee pain for probably twenty years, before I committed. I have a high threshold of pain. Your body will tell you when it's time. The older you get, the harder/longer the recovery. My mother waited too long and never did get her mobility back. Spent the rest of her days in wheelchair. I still have too many things, I want to do.
