Walter...it probably seems a little strange but up here in the North East ..i have no less than at least 7 ranges within a 40 mile radius with indoor and out door ranges plus trap skeet and sporting ranges and that doesn't include the airforce base range that is open ocansionslly to the public...heck we even have county ranges that are free...most private ones charge 125 a year for unlimited use even the heated indoor pistol ranges...kitchens included...but then we also have some pretty good shooters to contend with....some of these guys can litteraly drive tacks at 100 yds....0ur military matches used to draw at least a dozen shooters every sunday...they could make you feel pretty small..100 plus in the bulls eye pistol leagues...i struggled for years to stay in the top five...ditto with IDPA and IPSC..

Dan. I wish I had better ranges in my area. I don't mind just hitting the hills. Oregon has a lot of BLM. We are still kind of the wild west out here ya know...

As promised the plain base at 100 yds

I have decided that you like Ben's Red and a BLL over coat.

And just what brings you to THAT conclusion Ben?..;)

I have to say that Ben's Red is pretty good stuff, clean shooting for sure...
I've also come to the conclusion that I only need just so much of it on the bullets..I've set the lube sizer so that it puts the same amount on all the bullets reguardless of the profile...
ditto with the BLL..I've cut way down on the amount I use on the rifle bullets.. thanks Ben

Nicest shooting bench I've seen was built by a friend. 2 layer plywood top, cut out for shooter, 3 - 3" galv. pipe legs screwed into angled flanges. A little heavy but STURDY. He has a Hornady delta rest that works great (don't think they are made anymore but I'd like one). Put a rear bag under the stock and you get this at 200 - left hand just squeezing the bag. Using a BDC scope! Upper 4 group are 'on' target, lower right is his sighting in, inverted 'L" are my 3. ~2' from LR308 carbine (165gr GC cast). No scope adjust, just second ring down. 200 is a lot easier than I thought. If I sound like I'm doing the happy dance, YES. Cast load doing that the first time @ 200, 2400 fps. 3 shots three knock downs! What could I do with a bull on the target! Buddy was impressed too, wants to try 400 next time with the rifle upper. Nice to have the ATV to drive and reset the target each time. Don't know why it came out rotated, I rotated & resized to up load.

Best deal I've ever seen was at this place...they were sitting on some prime land the Town wanted to use to expand their landfill...
the Town traded them some of their land and threw in some cash to sweeten the deal....this is what they ended up with when all was said and done...check out the tables...https://www.facebook.com/Monument-Beach-Sportsmans-Club-135233216528621/

Oh and make sure you check out the "babe" with the m1 Garand (click the "photos" tab)....there's two...photos of the "babe"

Quicksilver,
Have you pushed the GC version of this bullet over 2000 FPS? I've been working with it for most of the summer for a Rem 700 .30-06 SS/composite with real poor results. I've tried soft to 25% mono, .309-.311,IMR 4350, reloader 7, IMR 4198, different lengths and from @1600 to 2200. I've loaded buckshot with better patterns at 50 yds. The rifle shoots the 315 and the old style RD bullets fairly well. Maybe this rifle/bullet just weren't made to be together. Any ideas?
