Sciatica has been normal and everyday for me for the last 14 or so years. Ever since I ruptured a disc in the lumbar section. Sciatic nerve bundle that goes down left leg pinched and especially the Peroneal nerve.
I developed Sciatica a few years ago. Had it so bad I had to walk the house all night long for near 3 months! ( Kept stepping on our cats). I became a zombe
Finally found a Chiropractor that got me fixed up in 3 weeks! Pain went from a 9 to a 3 during that time...He thought me a lot about the way I did things which was bad for my back...I also wore a Tens unit nonstop for a few months ...However I had "drop leg" for about 6 months...fixed that by walking 3 miles every day.
Have to say the pain of that was worse then passing kidney stones! & That was what I thought was the worse pain in my life up til that!

Worse than passing a stone?
I can't imagine that.
I've done that once and it was by far the worst pain I have ever had to deal with.
My Mom told me once that if she had the choice between passing a kidney stone or giving birth, she would choose childbirth every time.

Jim, "worse than passing kidney stones"? Have passed at least a half dozen. Don't want any part of whatever you had. At least with the pain in the back and leg, Mrs. smokeywolf would do acupressure and massage on me and it would relieve 80% of the pain for a couple of hours. No kind or amount of massage relieves the pain of passing a kidney stone.

a good massage therapist should be able to push the nerve back in place and pretty much stop the pain and foot numbness almost instantly.
you can also do some stretches that will help move it to a slightly more comfortable position.
my niece is a good massage therapist.... jus sayin,,,, but she had me pain free in like 30 seconds after walking [well gimping and limping] around with a numb floppy foot for 5-6 weeks.

Interesting article yesterday on inteweb. Scientist working on ways to make concrete on Mars for construction. Mix your pee in bucket of mars dust to make concrete. Unfortunately, no water on Mars so you have to haul it anyway. And with gravity 40% of earth, got to get it to stay in the bucket. Bet they spent a lot of tax $ on the study, goal was to NOT need to haul construction material from earth. Hmm. Any more bright ideas?

Not a good plan considering NASA filters & purifies the urine and drinks it. Can't drink concrete.

At $10,000/lb to low earth orbit, no telling how much to Mars surface, that's some expensive concrete. There HAS to be water on that planet somewhere, maybe deep under the frozen CO2 ice caps.

Or maybe the idea of a vacation resort there is silly?

Only places we go for vacation or quick get-aways are those we can drive to, and within the original 48 states.
Nothing at all against Alaska but not getting a passport.

lot cheaper to snag an asteroid or haul it from the Moon.
you only need 55 mph to escape the moons gravity.

I expect that the first structures on Mars with be made with 3d printed plastic filament panels that can be assembled into habitation mods versus concrete. Also building those structures in caves or caverns will also help protect the structures from Mars wind/sandstorms.

you can board a coastal ferry in Seattle and go straight to Alaska.

Well S. E. Alaska which is simply northern Seattle. While S. E. Is beautiful, your just on the outskirts of Alaska.

I love it when I run into folks that say “why I’ve been to Alaska on a cruise to Juneau”. I just smile and shake my head. Technically correct but….
You can catch a occasional ferry to the mainland of Alaska, but they are infrequent if the even offer them anymore.

Cruise ships and ferries are packed with people I don't know and don't want to know. Our one-time cruise was a learning experience. During the ferry ride from Seattle to Bainbridge Island we stayed on deck and pretty much alone.

in '97, I took a flight to Anchorage, then another to Aniak to visit my half-native relatives. Talk about "interior"...I got stories. Salmon, Moose, Bear, A small flat bottom boat, a 338WM bolt gun in the gunnel (now I know why it's called a gunnel, LOL), and Cariboo...BANG!
Having a Campfire on a rock bar island in the middle of the Aniak river, trying to sleep on the rocks, catching a Dolly Vardon for breakfast...YUM.
Oh, and going to pay my respects to a Native who passed, Russian Orthodox style visitation.

chuckle,,,, yeah it is.
I was talking to a guy originally from Alaska today and his story about his [future] F.I.L. also involved a
338 WM.

338WM.
So my Cousin, his wife, and I are in this small flat bottom boat going up the Kuskokwim River, to find a tributary for salmon fishing (btw, this is September). Water was too low to get where he wanted to take me. We look for alternatives and get skunked. Then his wife gets the Idea we should go to "Uncle Crazy's" cabin and say hi. His cabin is on the shore of the river, we get there, and he isn't there. We go back to Aniak after about 20 hours of screwing around...No fish in the bag. We see, three Cariboo are swimming across the river. My cousin asks me if I want to shoot one of them. I realize we are in the middle of nowhere, but I just don't want to be "that guy". My cousin says, that's OK...He pulls out the rifle and shoots the smallest looking one...we are like 50 feet away from them. We move the boat over there, and drag the dead Cariboo to shore. He guts it and quarter's it and then he said, there is a family he knows that need meat for the winter. So when we get back to the village, we deliver the quarters to that family. They sure were appreciative and gave us some dried Salmon sticks.

When the last three months' daytime temperatures have been no higher than the low 70s, washing the truck in
85-degree shade is a taxing, sweaty and thirst generating affair.
