Timney trigger for the '03 Springfield

Beyond annoyed with this thing. So much for drop in. Trigger installed easy enough but doesn't work properly. I can run the bolt but it won't fully cock the rifle. Pictures in the instructions are vague at best and the wording leaves a lot to be desired. I thought at most I'd have to inlet the stock a bit to accommodate the trigger housing. No such luck. I can't find any helpful Youtube vids either. Ideas?

That worked Ben. That is the vid I had watched before. I did just what was done in the video but when I run the bolt the cocker will not fully engage.

Hmmm . . . I've installed five Timneys and never had that problem.

Out of curiosity and not knowing if it makes any difference, but is the magazine "ON" and the safety "OFF" (all the way to the left and not straight up)?
I keep the magazine "ON" and don't use the safety.

I assume to remove material from area 9 I need to disassemble the trigger?

I had the same identical thing happening to me with a 98 Mauser.
The lady at Timney told me to enlarge the opening ( with a chain saw file ) in the tang to insure the sear and the bolt could engage freely. It worked for me.

Yes, I think a quick phone call is in order.

Not sure where you are taking about. The stock or the receiver?

The oval in the tang of the receiver.
On my 98 Mauser , it was binding the part of the Timney trigger that was trying to come up through it. It had to be enlarged.
The lady told me that was a fairly common problem.

Since it was unable to come up through the oval part of the tang, the bolt couldn't cock itself.

This is a 98' Mauser but the basic principal is still the same.

Great picture Ben, you can see where Waco's is being hung up on the forward part of that opening.

So that part barely moves as it is. But when it's installed it moves eve less. Looks like a little file work is in order.
