23 years ago, I wanted to build a LH flintlock. I knew a guy that built these all the time. It was his passion and his therapy. In hindsight, I should have just paid him to build the rifle. But I bought a custom kit from Track of the Wolf. It is a .45 cal with a swamped barrel from Colorado Rifle Barrels.
The barrel has been fit to the stock as has the lock. That's pretty much where I quit and put it away. I dug it out the other day thinking that I'd finish it this winter. After looking at the kit and what remains to be done, coupled with my very limited interest in muzzle loaders in general, I think the best decision is to simply sell the kit.
Track of the Wolf no longer offers this kit. It is the 1770 Isaac Haines Lancaster County Long Rifle. It comes with everything, even a strip of maple for making the patchbox cover if desired. All you need to provide are the tools, sandpaper and elbow grease.
So, I'm testing the waters here for interest. Looking at the current kits being sold by ToW, they are all in the $1000 and up range. I bought the best of everything when I spec'd out this kit. Other than the inlet black on the wood, it looks pretty much like the day I received it.
I think it's worth $750.00. That's about what it cost when I bought it.
If there is any interest, please let me know.
