Waht did you cast today?

They are very close to a TC but still have the step to make them a SWC
Yeah now that I look a little closer. The real TC is the 4th bullet. Certainly different when compared side by side.

I posted this a couple pages back. The left hand bullet is a 132 grain BB from a 6 cavity mold I recently purchased from JonB and I was thinking it might turn out to be a good one. Haven’t tried it out yet. Spring is coming. By the time I get back to Alaska I should be giving all 5 pictured some testing in my K14’s.IMG_1966.jpeg

Looks like a nice strong line up of accurate bullets!
That lee RF has always been a great bullet for me!
Curious how the far left shoots looks similar to the hg275.

Did some casting last night before the rain came in. I cast outside. There are what I ran. All the molds are older Ideal or antique.

This is that Vetterli 10.4mm. They come out around .430" as cast. I'll probably just smear the lube in the groves and shoot as cast. I just can't figure out who made this mold. No markings at all. Had it for over 8 years now. Anyone know what this is?

My guess is that it is a reworked Winchester or BGI mould from the 1800's. It was common to bore the blocks out and silver solder the brass halves in and rechamber for a new caliber.
Thanks Ric.
I have been working on a center-fire conversion for a Swiss Vetterli in 10.4mm and this gives me a .430" slug which should work. I have a mold for .44 Evans Old Model as well and will try them both. Glad I got this thing years back. Had no use for it then but do now!

Isn't the 311316 too small in diameter for your Cadet?
I have two Cadets, Both are factory chamberings. One in .310 Cadet and the other in .32-20 Win. I have seen several of the .32-20 conversions and even .32 Win. Special conversions done on the Cadet Rifles that were originally .310. I had the make brass for the 310 chambering, but the .32-20 I have no loaded for yet. I'll tap a slug down the bore and see if they made the bores different sizes. I think the manufacturers of the rifles is different. I now cast the externally lubed bullet RCBS offers a mold for but have not shot them in the original loading I did years ago. The mold was not offered then. I'll pull that box of shells out and post what I loaded back then.

I have one that was rechambered to .32-20 and I use a 90 grain 8 m/m Nambu mould, might be an old H&Gs. .322" diameter. Then when Long Hunter had this rifle for awhile he went with a heeled 120 grain bullet from Australia I think. But my fear is normal .32-20 bullets will be too small.

You are probably correct. I do have a few Nambu's I messed around with 2 years ago trying to get cast bullets to work but never could get them to feed without damaging to bullets catching on the shaft of the safety. I just use Buffalo Arms Plated and that is good for me. I have about 300 already cast and lubed Nambu Bullets. I'll look at this this weekend. Still have not found that Martini rifle!! What safe is it in.....

Cast the next to last batch of RCBS gas checked 45-405s and should be done with the last batch by tomorrow. After that, the mould will move on to someone else.

Got the mould from Jon for the cost of postage and bought 250 Gator gas checks from Sage's. Though the rifle and I like the bullet, I much prefer the frugalness of the plain base Lyman 457193, though the rifle doesn't prefer one bullet over the other.

I'm same way. If I can avoid a check, that keeps the cost down. I don't notice any difference in 45-70. All I have is Trapdoors. Nothing modern.
