LOL Ric! I know! Have read a bunch of your stuff on the 32-20/53! Why I started on the 5.0 grn Unique with ~120 grn bullet! (forget the other load I intend to try from your notes...) Gotta get a good set of Skinner dovetail/front post sights on it.Keep us up on the Browning 53, on of my favorite rifles!
I have never been able to shoot a scoped rifle well offhand. Something I should probably practice.I have taken a few tumbles in the last few weeks while hunting. I was worried that I might have bumped my scope at some point. So around midday I decided to see if my Savage 110 in 7mm-08 was still shooting to the correct point of aim.
I set a 4” rock up on a stump. Then walked off 100 yards. Embarrassed to say that I missed it offhand, so I sat down and aimed off of my pack for the next shot. That next shot knocked it off the stump. Good enough.
That is what I shot today.
With enough practice, you shouldn't need lighting. When I was in the academy we shot at night and at first I thought that's impossible.I FINALLY got some trigger time this evening after spending the last three days busting my butt to get my 100-yard backstop functional again. Got just enough sand shoveled in there to make it safe and sighted in my PSA .223 Wylde upper. Sorry, no cast this time, but I'm back in business. As soon as I get the crib doors built and my 12V solar target lighting system wired up again I can shoot after work in this infernal winter time change.

Thanks, Ric.The standard Remington commercial forend blanks were cut for an octagonal barrel; military for a round barrel. Making the front of the barrel round reduced weight (barely a few ounces) but was stylish. People were as picky about how their rifle looked then as much as we are now.
I've a 6 1/2" Lew Horton 624, too. I was going to take it today, but took the Randall instead.Do have a 624.
