Crime in your neighborhood?

Ours are still elected, they only get to be slightly political, if the job isn't being done or thinking tickets are just another way of raising revenue, they don't get reelected.

Yep, our elected sheriff is a "Constitutional Sheriff" and a really good, moral man. He basically told the state "you pass dumb laws and don't fund them 100%, we aren't enforcing them." We have enough real problems without spending time to chase down folks who sell an 11 round magazine to a neighbor.

Unfortunately, the problem is the politics cut both ways. If you live in an area with predominately conservative voters and they elect good people, it’s great. But if you live in an area densely packed with idiots, you get something very different.

Without getting into the political arena this forum so wisely prohibits, that’s about as far as I can go on that topic.

No, my point was that Federal, State and local politics can all be different and that is not bad.

Frequent discharge of firearms keeps the trash within earshot away. The only ones I worry about are the passers-by who don't know, and the human traffickers. Meth and weed are the drugs of choice here and there is a lot of it, but it's small time, local, and most of them keep a really low profile. In town they got bigger problems but again, all the trafficking, and rings, and "customers" don't produce much violent crime that makes the books. Lots of seedy stuff going on if you have a way to know about it, but easy to avoid.
