I use a cordless Bluetooth speaker and Pandora on my iPhone for background noise when I'm working in the shop.

I think I'm getting old, no CD players in cars and possibly soon to be , no AM radio either.
Funny how that works. I guess it is just the inevitable technological progress at foot.

My Tundra is 14 years old now. It still has the CD slot that was standard back then, and it has a 1/8" RCA mini plug jack on the front surface for MP3 players. I opted for the standard radio with knobs and push buttons (wish I could pull the button out, and then push it back in to lock a station - like the old days). The only option I paid for when I ordered it was the iPhone interface.

But that was the old 30 pin connector iPhone jack. So I had to buy an adapter when Apple changed to the lightning connector. That whole apparatus will probably be completely obsolete soon.

I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see that some members in Congress fighting back against the removal of AM radios. Not just because who tends to talk on that bandwidth, but because people in rural areas need the long range reception of AM radio in times of hazard and emergency. Something the "bi-coasters" probably never think about. Drive through our beautify country, through the mountains and plains and the advantage of that feature is immediately apparent.

Those of us who live in areas of 2000' tall basalt ridges, also only get AM, unless the FM transmitter is down in the valley with you and you don't turn a corner.

I just lazied on the music after the move , in our area I guess rock and roll is a dirty 11 letter phrase. I'd listen to KOMA on either band but it doesn't make it to the Oklahoma border even at night anymore on the AM side the Mighty 690 and KFI dropped music about the same time Wolfman Jack did . I've had Slacker , renamed X Live , now Live X Live for about 10 yr on my phone . The free version has a 30 second to 3 minute commercial block about every 15 minutes and has as near as I've gone looking, boogie woogie to last Tuesdays new releases. Some of the stations have pretty small libraries others play several gens , classic rock and the oldies are pretty broad sweeps .

i pay for satellite radio.
otherwise you gotta drive on the wrong side of the road or park just so here or there to get anything but shhhhhhhh on all channels.
[all except the local station that only plays one good song,,, at noon every day,,,, they call it the national anthem]
it's weird to get one 'other than' station to come in perfectly good in the gun room [if you use the aluminum window frame as a booster] but you gotta listen to something else on the radio in the shed 20' away.

same channel different relay number on the dial,,
i'd really appreciate it if they'd change their rotation though the only new song they play is the one Miley sirus/siris whatever put out about 3 years ago.

I have SiriusXM in my pickup.
It`s well worth the money to me.
Cindy has Sirius XM in her pickup. Only one of four vehicles that are capable. Plus, it carries over to the house. Where we make more use out of it. She's been paying about the same price since 2016...................all you need to do is threaten to cancel and they will offer you the same rate as the prior year.

I have a Bluetooth speaker for my phone, an old boom box on the southern end of the shop for CDs, and a Bose Wave for FM on the northern end of the shop. The CD player quit working in the Bose years ago and Bose wants nothing to do with fixing it- so I abide.

I got Sirius XM for my truck, also.
$5.00 a month is worth every penny.
I use it on my phone in the house thru blue tooth speakers more than the truck.
I have a huge catalog of music on my phone, but the Sirius let's me just start it and never have to stop and load another album or playlist.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I have a site on my laptop called "Accuradio". Free, all sorts of different music. If I can ever figure out how to get the wifi to reach my garage I could listen to it out there. I know there are antennas and line of sight systems to stretch you wifi signal, but I don't know the workings or if they really work.

pick sumthin... LOL
i either turn on the satellite radio on the TV, or throw some CD's in the boom box and push random.
euro-dance music, 80's nuwave, 60's garage bands, 90's POP, Industrial, some early 2000's K-pop,,, whatever happens to be in the pile that strikes my fancy as i dig through it... might even be some Hank, Chris, or Waylon thrown in to mix things up a little.
