The prices on berry plants of all kind are through the roof IMO. For Blue berries, check with your local soil and water service in spring and see if they offer any. The next county over from us, Lewis, offers decent (not great) prices if you're willing to pick up. Paying $15-20 per plant at Lowes or more through the mail is simply robbery IMO, but people pay it.
We put 100 BB plants 2 years ago. It was the year of the drought, of as close as the northeast comes to a drought. Despite all the watering we did we lost every single one. Our clay just dried out and cracked no matter how much mulch and water we used. Partly my fault for not tilling in a mess of barnyard material, but that just leads to weeds so I was trying to avoid that. Live and learn.
Got more painting done yesterday and more drywall work, all while babysitting our youngest daughter who was running a fever for 2 days. Kid gets everything that's out there. Got parts enroute for my old Cockshutt 30 tractors PTO, got another tractor my youngest boy tells me "the wheel fell off" out on a wagon road someplace and the sheep have to be moved today.
