Went to Cabela's and bought new hunting boots for this fall. Just fired up the RCBS pro melt to cast a bunch of 9mm bullets from my still new Arsenal 5 cavity mold to feed the wife's new Ruger PC9

Worked today, came home, and went to dinner with the wife.
No real plans for the evening, my favorite kind of evening.

Despite 102 temps here at the house, I spent the afternoon breaking in the MVP. Got three boxes of shells through it with about 25 cleanings scattered in-between, and plenty of water breaks. Other than spending time with wife/kiddo in the living room, stuffing my face, reading, being a cat bed, and generally bumming around in the air conditioning, that was about it.

Got a 300 BO taper crimp die made. Was fighting my Hornady die set to get a crimp like I wanted so I made what I wanted. I prefer to crimp in a separate die anyway.

Sittin' here in front of the 'puter nursing a cold. Son got it (still fighting it), then wife got it, now it's my turn.
Was able to put BBQ beans, brats and a beer-can chicken on the smoker last night. Mrs. is going to make chicken soup with the leftovers.

your banned from mechanical traptions. [ha I can spell that however I want it ain't a real word]

all the big dog's went home and now Jax is bored, she is wandering all over the yard/house looking for them.

I think I have all the wood I need to finish building the flower beds and 2 bigger box's along the back fence.
[it's 90' across]
now I just need the plastic border for the one side and a bunch of garden soil/mulch to fill them in.
I looked at some raspberries earlier today to fill in where I already have some but all they had was the yellow ones, and their strawberry's ain't on sale yet. [I haven't figured out what the wife wants in the other 2 spots we will have yet]
the 2 bed's I'm going to build between the fruit trees will probably have to wait until next year.

I have all the stuff to repair the window/house trim on the south side finally, except maybe the paint, so that's the next and final project for this year. [I hope,,, we still don't have a front porch railing]

they got all kinds of hybrid berry's now.
I just put up 4 tayberry bushes, they are a blackberry raspberry cross and have been around for a long time but lost favor some years back.
they grow into a longer vine instead of just one long bramble stick and need a support system so I put some cross wires up and will add in some strings later for them to follow.

I was looking at blueberry's and there are about 20 different variety's of those.
they recommend planting 2-3 different ones near each other and about 5-6' apart.
I thought bushes meant 2-3' tall, most of them are miniature trees getting 5-6' high, and some of them grow berry's in bunches along the branch almost looking like half size grapes.
I probably screwed up planting them right next to the fence, but if they do okay I will put a couple out between the fruit trees.

I might have to grab some of those yellow raspberry's and put them in if they go on sale later.
the color doesn't matter to me and if they cross with the others I guess I will have red/yellow berry's?

Got no sleep last night worked too late chasing down the last of garage building stuff . Just chilling and waiting on the clock now . I have about 3 hr left on a 22.5 yr stay with my current employer . I realized last night about 9:30 that I have 3 40 mm mortar cans and a crate and the powder locker still to get on the trucks along with the fridge , deep freeze and the contents of the safe .

Round two of cleaning up one my shooting buddies estate. Guns to gun broker, small stuff to eBay, anything bigger than a flat rate box to the local gun store. Biggest issue is two eight foot pick-up beds of shotgun stuff and four MEC 9000 loaders. Guy was a state champ skeet shooter 20 years ago, got sick, but kept buying shotgun stuff. Oh Well, paying forward.

Ric PITA has their big shoot over that way each year.
I bet getting rid of his stuff including the reloaders wouldn't take too long with a couple of flyers at the club.
just a heads up.
if you think metallic reloaders are cheapasses....
but I wouldn't be surprised if one guy bought all of the reloading supply's if you put a good price on them.
if you have a big pile of the old style [compression formed] Winchester AA hulls that haven't been fired more than 1-2 times they are pretty highly sought after.

Fiver, Have not found the right person yet. Set up is for .410, 28, 20 and 12 with hydraulic assist? Out of my knowledge base. bales and bushels of wads and cases and "stuff" I know nothing about. They just have to be gone within a year.

I should be able to identify almost all of it if you need the help.
we can work off descriptions or labels if necessary.

the 9000's are pretty popular machines based on the volume of traffic I see them generate on the shotgun forums I read.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
The prices on berry plants of all kind are through the roof IMO. For Blue berries, check with your local soil and water service in spring and see if they offer any. The next county over from us, Lewis, offers decent (not great) prices if you're willing to pick up. Paying $15-20 per plant at Lowes or more through the mail is simply robbery IMO, but people pay it.

We put 100 BB plants 2 years ago. It was the year of the drought, of as close as the northeast comes to a drought. Despite all the watering we did we lost every single one. Our clay just dried out and cracked no matter how much mulch and water we used. Partly my fault for not tilling in a mess of barnyard material, but that just leads to weeds so I was trying to avoid that. Live and learn.

Got more painting done yesterday and more drywall work, all while babysitting our youngest daughter who was running a fever for 2 days. Kid gets everything that's out there. Got parts enroute for my old Cockshutt 30 tractors PTO, got another tractor my youngest boy tells me "the wheel fell off" out on a wagon road someplace and the sheep have to be moved today.

I have lost a couple of the blueberry plants I put in.
I think my problem is the Ph of the soil, blueberry's need a low Ph something like a 4 is fine for them.
I thought it was a not enough water thing with mine too but the 2' tall fescue grass surrounding them says there is enough water there.
I just put down a Ph lowering fertilizer the other day for them so I guess we will see what happens.

the one that kills me is the raspberry's.
I fight with them and fight with them, meanwhile 30' away my neighbor is cussing and chopping out a bramble patch of them that seems to grow bigger and thicker every year.
it started out with 2 plants he had put in on a whim after digging them up in the mountains near here and his wife said not to put them by the house.

all this gardening stuff is pretty new to me, I have grown different things over the years but it was always been small stuff like 10-12 potato plants, a 6'X6' strawberry patch, or 4 cucumber vines.
Berry's seemed like kind of a challenge so I figured I would give them a go.

We have very poor soil..............mostly a mixture of sand and red clay. However, we have wild blackberies, throughout the acreage. Biggest patch is off to the side of the gravel driveway. Cindy will be picking soon.

Went to the range with Khornet.
Took the 45 Colt Marlin, the 300 BO AR 15, and the 624.
Took ammo for the 357 Win 92 but not the gun? That is fine, I had the 300 BO with me but not the ammo.

Moral of the story is don't pack in a hurry and make sure you have what you need with you!

Came home short 100 rounds each of 44 special and 45 Colt. It was a good time.
