Ok. Retirement went into the bank. All bills but one minor one paid. Pantry fairly stocked. 3/4 tank of gas and no traveling planed anyway. And the usual reserve for operations here set aside. And there was Money left over.! What happened? Huh? Don't question it you say? Go to the gun shop. You deserve it I hear someone here say. Go get a new gun. It's been too long. Go Dog!
So this Rossi, by Taurus, is hanging amongst many. Ohhh, casehardened frame, crescent buttplate, and nosecap. 20" octagonal barrel. Smooth even grained walnut stock and forearm. Matching grain and color. Deep rich and well polished blueing. And even a nicely crowned muzzle. And its in .357 Mag. So what's the down side? The price tag along with the tax is more than in my wallet. I sigh. Tell the owner I'm short. Love to have it but can't get any extra coin... He smiled and said you were my first gunsmith in my shop. Ya might not do that for me now a days, but I'll pay your tax. Let's get your paperwork done so you can beat the approaching rain.
Well I didn't beat the rain and thus no trigger time, but it's my first new gun in quite a while. And unlike many Rossis I hear horror stories about rough actions, poor fittings, awful triggers and such, it ain't so with this piece. Taurus musta upgraded the QC on the 92's as the one that followed me home is a Winner! Ultra smooth right outta the box and the trigger breaks at an even and crisp 3.6 pounds. And I do mean CRISP! Guys, only thing I'm gonna need to do is sight it in (old style buckhorn and gold beed)..... Oh, and work up a load. Rats! Oh well
But what I wanna know is which one of ya'll was that voice in my head telling me to go buy a new gun? Well at least whoever it was telling me all that stuff did tell me my favorite caliber! Thanks!
