Question???? do you have to paint the bottoms of the bullets ??? D Crockett
If you shake and bake them the bottoms will get paint on them. The guys that stand them up and spray them the bottom stay bare.Question???? do you have to paint the bottoms of the bullets ??? D Crockett
As stated its just ascetics. Not required. Might offer some assistance on higher pressure/velocity loads. But thats as yet unproven. Its NOT a gas check.Question???? do you have to paint the bottoms of the bullets ??? D Crockett
Why size any other time?
But that has nothing to do with Powder Coating.Because sometimes the bullet is too big to do in one go without distorting it.
But again thats your choice. A GC can be seated without sizing.Uh, with some molds I install gas checks first, this sizes the bullet when using the Lee push through dies. Then final sizing after powder coat.
My Lee 312-155-2r drops pretty large, it benefits from this routine of being run through the sizer twice. They drop from the mold at .3135”, size/install checks to .311”, powder coat makes them .313” to .314” then they get final sized back down to .311”.
It’s important to have a polished and clean die. I do run these through dry.
Why size any other time?
I am looking to trade with someone for some powder coat paint I have for trade items (1) 223 projectiles swaged with 22lr caseings (2) 44mag projectiles swaged with 40cal casings (3) 30/30 cast they have gas checks and are lubed and sized (4) 45 acp 200gr swc cast projectiles the reason I am posting this is I can not fond powder coat paint here except at harbor freight which I was told was not good for powder coating bullets let me know if you can help me thank you D Crockett
And lastly, I wanted to say that I too
“ALWAYS” size after powder coating!
But SOMETIMES I size before powder coating.
kinda hard to shove a 363 bullet through a 358 die no matter how slick it is.Why size any other time?
