Reloading for 45 Auto Rim in S&W 1917

Not hardly. Eight pages and one mention of an air conditioner, a brief sidetrack to explore the manifestations of the Peter Principle, a little discussion about the merits of wheelguns vs bottom feeders, but otherwise a fascinating thread about the history, feeding, and individual experiences regarding the 1917/1937. It even promted me to go dig out and attempt to ID one if my own and get some much-needed education about it.

The Hogue neoprene grip set for the PC 625 arrived on Saturday, about 36 hours after I ordered them online. DANG. That is a very good thing, because the less time my new wheelgun spends WITHOUT those red/white/blue candy-corn-looking OEM grips, the better. I would have to surrender my Man Card to use those hideous things.

You could have wrapped electrical tape around it in a pinch, but fortunately you won't have to now. When does the important part of the equation get released from "probation"?

On 11/5. One handgun every 30 days (on new guns), and Gavin The Magnificent just signed legislation that will apply the one-per-month rule to long arms as of 01-01-20. As a practical matter, it seldom affects most people. This is only the second time for me to be affected by this idiot-wind hoop-jumping bit. In Fall 2017 I stumbled onto 2 Glock 10mms about 4 days apart, and had to space out the acquisitions in this manner. Previously, I could never afford to be affected by these laws, so it was kinda self-regulating.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
A little thread drift keeps things interesting IMO. I belong to a tractor site where some people get their panties in a wad if someone gets the least bit OT. Then the same people post pictures of their dogs, their grandkids, the local football team, etc. Live and let live I say!

Another benefit of this thread is it is going to cause me to go mining in the big gun safe and try to find my Brazilian .45. I know there is a bag of Star Line AR brass here somewhere.

I learned that now at least four other members have 1937 Brazilian contract .45s, AND that I have one too. Pretty neat.

The 45 Auto Rim Lives!

I have a lot of Lyman #454424 already on hand, and I need to warm up The Foundry and get some #452423s poured. How dreadful that will be.

Is that a Pachmyar grip adapter on that very nice Revolver ?

No.

It is a period-correct Tyler T-Grip which with came the revolver when sold by the estate of the former US Postmaster of Upperville, VA
The serial number range of the revolver is documented by factory letter from a lot assembled post-WW2 for the US Postal Inspection Service.
Because some will ask, NO the gun is NOT for sale. It is already spoken for in my estate instructions for when that would come to pass.
