The Old Man and the Sea Almost as boring as the one about the Okies in california (or the Rus in war). Mom caught me reading it and had a fit when she found it was required reading for school. Principal got her comments. Poe was interesting though, but a bit nutty. You think the writers are a little off, look at the lives of 16-18 century painters. Had a friend who claimed Hemingway stayed in her second story (attic) room before she lived in the house.
Kid said GS just got tboned by a new charger that was demolished. GS is OK, jeep needs fixin. Other driver in the hosp, no proof of insurance. Cops were at the scene of accident in the other lane.

tired.
I got the pallet picket fence all cut out, and the scraps cut into firewood, then since I was already good and soaked in sweat I went ahead and just built the thing.
about the time I found someone not doing anything [like everyone sitting on my front porch] to make me some lunch while I cleaned up all the tools
they all decided we needed to go to Pokie ''grocery shopping''
the wife cut up the second roast from the smoker and made some olives from the can, plus a box of angel hair pasta for lunch so I knew something was up when she went to all that trouble.
roast was dang good, there was no chance for seconds though.

I got the good news that my hip replacement surgery was moved up to July 6th from July 12th.
My wifes ovarian cancer recurred after 12 years and she had surgery.
She has had a number of complications that have made it hard on her.
She is getting a port put in today and her first of 6 chemo infusions Friday.
Thank God that we are a close family and that they are close by to help with us both being down for a while.

Put a porch on the cabin them sided the 10x10 entry room. Then removed the 3 windows, built 2x10 frames for the windows in the timber walls and reinstalled. Today I have to build the door for the entry room off the porch. I bought 7 surplus oak solid fire doors for "stock". One is on the reloading room, this is the second put into use. They came out of a remodeled school in Nenana. They use a 3 3/4 back set knob set which is about $275. So I have taken the 36" door down to 35" with the inch coming off the latch side. Now I can use a standard 2 3/4 inch back set at about $75 for a good one.
My nephew is down the taping of the insulation. Besides have fiberglass insulation in the rafters I use 2x2 nailers across the rafters with foil covered foam board and foil tape from side to side over the nailers making a tight seal. Also taping over each fastener with a spot of tape. This eliminates stud conduction and forms a sealed vapor barrier.

Good morning Dale... I will pray God gives the docs wisdom, no infection and both you are recovered promptly.
Finished putting in a new electric window unit (driver) on the 97 Firebird. Great American engineering ! 18 hours of fun and blood. The Cavilier passenger done last week was 4 hours of easy complications. (jap engineering) .
Loading some cast today for our 1894 Krag infantry rifle. Has a Redfield peep on it by previous WW2 vet. Nice old rifle.

Dale, as the spouse of a cancer survivor, I feel your pain and fears. Every check up, you wait for the other shoe to drop. You and your wife have my prayers for successful treatment and another 12 years of health. We are on year 9.

Seems like a case of 5000, 10 bricks could be had for right at $100. I think the last case I bought was pushing $200, but not quite there yet.
Seems like I just saw a brick for sale for about $100. Ten fold. Glad I have a good stock.
Need to find a brick of shorts. Getting low but I can wait.

Ran the string trimmer out in all the gravel areas. Spray a bit of Crossbow and a gallon of Round Up.
Jeez, I hope that was a gallon of mixed Round Up! I use Crossbow with water and some amendment I can't recall that helps break down the waxes on the leaves to kill Box Elder, Wild Rose, and Honey Locust in and around the prairie. Never ending job. I finally bought a tank sprayer to mount on the ATV to spray the driveways with Round Up. That cut the time and misery from a couple of hours with a back pack sprayer to maybe 20 minutes with the ATV, probably less.

Been tying 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs to replace all the ones we snagged in the rocks and downed trees in Lake Tanneycomo last week. This batch has been primarily a dark olive head, sculpin/ginger or light tan body, with a soft hackle collar. Going to do some variations, peanut butter, black and brown heads, olive, olive/peach, and black/yellow bodies. Adding some flash to a few. Spending hours hunched over the tying vise is getting to my back.

Have marathon weed wacking to do, this weekend............trails though out the 57 acres to maintain. Suppose to be a little cooler than it's been. I purchased a tank sprayer for my UTV, a couple of years ago. I spray the gravel drive, couple of times throughout the year. I been using Gordon's Big and Tuff concentrate. Uses half of what Round Up's mix is. Also spray the food plot, couple of weeks before plowing/planting, in early September.

Haven't purchased 22 LR ammo during the last 20 years. I put dates on all the bricks I've purchased. Currently, using stuff dated in the mid 90's. Most of it was $8.90 a brick. Dunham's or Dick's Sporting Goods were always running sales. Target use to carry 22 LR ammo, in Michigan, when they first opened up.

Speaking of weed wacking, we have grandkids coming to help Grandma and I.
They are looking for projects to help out.
I see weed wacking in the grandsons future..
I am taking my wife to Medford for her first Chemo infusion today.
They put in a port yesterday.

To get away from the life disrupting illegal fireworks, we’ve taken up residence at the Laguna Seca campgrounds, till the 6th. The entire facility — campgrounds, track and range is county owned. Recently, a wi-di system was installed. Cool, man. Now my wife can keep up with all her stuff. Too, I can keep up with this site, which is over 90-percent of my Internet usage. But, political correct bureaucrats installed blocks that prevent me from accessing this site, and checking on my Midsouth and Midway shopping carts. So, my wife got this smart-phone dummy’s smart-phone setup for the Internet. What a hassle to use, what with one-finger typing with a clumsy index finger. My hat’s off to those of you who can manipulate one of these contraptions.

I may be the only person who has purposely decided to use a smart-phone as a telephone only. But, now that I can muddle my way through this thing I can kind of keep to date on the site’s happenings.

An excellent day to you all!”

These phones make uploading pictures so very easy once you get the hang of it.
