Used to be not far out of my backyard at 4100' there's a mountain peak about 7 miles from this at 11,300 ft ...... Mt Grant .
I don't think there's a place in Arkansas that is 4000 ft high but we are in the south end of the Ozarks which I'm pretty sure is an old Indian word for rocks hidden by grass where the trees don't grow .

A nice Thanksgiving with our son and our tenant next door. Turkey and all the fixings...Pino Geris around the table! House cats tried to join in but only got the turkey scraps!
After the meal switched to a nice Portugal Red wine ! Good way to top off a nice evening

Stayed home on Thanksgiving Day with no special meal. We are still trying to thaw a 14 lb. turkey and it may be thawed by Saturday. Then brined over night and cooked in my new Louisiana Grill pellet grill Sunday.

I am currently brining a bunch of deer hearts in a brine typically used for pastrami that I will smoke on Monday.

Decided we have enough venison so I am suspending the 2021 deer hunt. Next plan is a duck hunt and fishing trip, (blast and cast), down on the Gulf Coast in Texas. That should be one heck of an adventure.

Cowboys game on TV (nobody watching), GKs on the sofa playing video games. Killed off the turkey, ham, potatoes, rolls, cherry and apple pie.

Minnesota isn't flat either, LOL.
Minnesota's Highest point is Eagle Mountain 2301 feet above sea level.
...it's the tall peak in the middle.

Our coastal hills are taller than that.

Just finished stripping the turkey carcass; Tasha helped me. Youngest son is just now getting geared up to bake a pun'kin pie.

Only one Mt. In Ohio and it's not even a real hill just a peak so many ft above sea level.
But in the south east Ohio river area, we have a mass of hills and valleys. Also some straight drops up to and exceeding 1100 ft from base to top. If I go 30 miles west or north kinda rolling hilly for a while. The south east where I live pretty rough terrain. Other then that if I go west or north, flatter then a witches buttocks.

we got a few mountain like objects around here.
i'm pretty sure i've been on top of most all of the tallest ones within 50-60 miles of here.
it's funny how different things that you know from the valley look from on top of a mountain 10 or 20 miles away.

we managed to put a good dent in everything and i [barely] managed to not put on 10 lbs.
the pumpkins i grew this year made a pretty passable mild flavored pumpkin pie, the purple sweet taters made a good pie.
hopefully i can get some good seeds out of a couple of those little pumpkin squashes, i've been real impressed with their flavor.

Spent the day at in-laws' place in San Diego, ham and turkey plus the side stuff. I'm stuffed. Just got home about an hour ago, I think this is the latest Marie and I have been out for several months.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Got to put together another piece of furniture in a box yesterday. Took the oldest daughter and me almost 3 hours! Followed that with a very nice, although small turkey. Everyone seemed happy. For that I'm thankful.

Supposed to start snowing here soon and last throughout tomorrow. I dunno, looks more like rain temps to me, but you never know. Got a million things to do!

The local independant farm store (Glencoe Fleet Supply-True Value) had a 20% off deal for Black Friday, opening at 6am this morning.
They have real good "regular" prices on decent leather boots, so I go there at 6am (I am up that early anyway). There are 3 other Old Farts, dressed in farmer clothes (just like me, LOL) ...one I happened to know... So we all were waiting in line to "rush" in the store. LOL, all four of us had a good laugh at the crowd of employees (15 of them), that let us in. While they have a big selection of stuff, it seemed all of us were there to get boots. I figured if I got there at 6, I was sure to get the sizes I wanted (I was also picking up a pair for a close friend).

Did that many years ago at our local Tractor Supply, they have among other things a gun safe sale that amounts to about 40% off. There was a line halfway to the curb across the parking lot at 5:30.

Going to finish loading out a third powder choice 30-30 for testing in the 94’s and hopefully getting to test at the 50 yard line. Want to load out some 30-30 with a NEI 308-220 RN GC for the Savage as it can take a little longer over all length. Frank Marshal had some loads for the 311-284 in the 94 obviously seated deep, but I’m going to make a couple of dummies this morning with the front drive band seated out. I’ve seated the band in and crimped over it which is still long and it cycles in the 99. As it’s a rotary magazine I don’t need the crimp with decent neck tension. So there’s going to be a sweet spot probably with the band half out, which puts the check just a touch below the neck.

Just was on the NOE sight checking the 25 caliber molds as I think it’s Shuz that’s looking for a 100 to 120 grain bullet he could use for a match. I’m interested in a 100 plus FN for my 1926 Savage bolt gun. But I noticed Al’s raised he’s pricing across the board by $15. I guess that’s not unexpected.

I was on Tom’s sight checking out the 311-175 BP - 315 clone as I’d like to order one with 2 cavities gas check and 2 plain base. $159 plus shipping, that will have to wait a bit, but, I’m thinking that’s going to be my next mold. Don’t mind paying more for a mold of quality, which Tom, NOE, and Arsenal produce. Seeing as my heating oil has double in price, as everything is up, I’m not surprised.

I don't shop black Friday any more if I can help it. Around here it gets pretty crazy in the big towns. Maybe the gun shop today, And enough food at the local Right Aid to add to the stuff at home I have to finger thru till Monday.
But staying away from the big box stores. Even though one as a 30 lb capacity electric roaster I have been wanting for a while at half off.

Right now suffering high pie levels. My sugars are 325.
So doing the shot of fast acting insulin, little walk and so forth till it comes down and stabilizes. I swear pie has been and will be the ultimate death of me. I just can not say no to pie.;)

Got the 19 pound turkey carcass stripped and the meat with dealt early this morning.
Have that carcass simmering on the stove for stock.
Will let it go all day.

Put the Christmas tree up this morning and we got it decorated.
Annie is very happy and that makes me happy.
Good day so far and it's only Noon.
Think I'll crank up the tunes and prep more 5.56 brass.
