When I was 19, I spent 90 days in the hospital after a motorcycle accident. Pretty busted up,
mostly one leg, and initially felt a bit sorry for myself. It was a USN hospital, and I met a lot of Vietnam casualties,
including a roommate who had stepped on a mine - long story, but he kept the foot, in fairly
good shape, but significant tendon rebuilding. Lots of bad car accident victims and war wounded
at that time.

I learned a good lesson in that hospital - no matter what health problem you may have, there is somebody
out there with a worse problem, and they are just dealing with it. My rule was: No whining, ever. An amazing
lesson for a 19 yr old to pick up, it seemed at the time, and still does. I am regularly amazed at the way many
folks deal with significant health problems. Best wishes, Kevin. My health problems are reasonably under
control, no complaints of much significance.

Best wishes, CZ93x63, for a speedy recovery, sir. I hope your process has a 'best possible' outcome.

I finished up the second new bathroom door installation in the 1882 house in Fla, headed north to the
Carolinas to visit more family. Fixes to do here, too. At least it makes me feel useful.

feel useful.

Doors turned out great, far better than what they replaced.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
My best wishes for speedy and full recoveries to both Al and Kevin. As far as dealing with things, I look at it this way. Yesterday morning one of my neighbors went out to milk. While he was doing that, his house burned to the ground. I slept in my own bed last night, surrounded by a fairly healthy family, and today is payday for me, in the freest nation on earth. It could all be a heck of a lot worse.

The hotrod tractor and chainsaw been getting a workout. The wind subsided and left some dead trees blown over. We have a combination oil/wood furnace. Digital readouts, fancy this and that. It's the biggest Yukon brand they make. Open the door, throw wood in..... shut door.... fugetaboutit. Oil lites the wood and runs on wood till its... out. Then oil kicks back in.

No excuse from wifey..."I couldn't get the wood lit". And once you learn what the oil sounds like running, it quickly translates straight to your $$ back pocket. We love the wood because it's a better delivery system. It's burning even when blower isn't. Gravity heat fills the all metal ducts. Then when blower kicks in.... the ducts are already filled with heated air. HUGE difference compared to any other fuel sourced, forced air system.

Maintenance is very easily managed on our system.

Wow Kevin, what some people will do just to get to lay around in bed for awhile. Take care, listen to the docs.

Kevin, wishing the best for you. Speedy recovery, because spring will be here before you know it and there is more testing and paper punching that needs to be done.

Got to changing hyd/trans oil on a tractor yesterday. Got everything cleaned up and went to put some form-a-gasket on the sump. Brand new Permatex blister packed tube- empty!!! There was maybe 1/4 teaspoon up at the nozzle end. Looked and looked, couldn't find any other tubes here and didn't have a sheet of gasket material anywhere near big enough, so 13 miles back to town. Got the standard apologies from the store, but no, they were'n't going to reimburse me for my gas and time running to town. 26 wasted miles. Sheesh!

Today there is this big bright light in the sky here. Looked it up on the internet and it's apparently called "The Sun"........

got any pictures of the big bright light?
maybe it could get rid of the 5"s of shiny new snow we got last night. [actually this morning between 2 and 6 am]
should have known something was up when I heard the Bronco start this morning instead of the wife's Tahoe.

Visiting my sister in the SE. Her son and DIL stopped by, wanted to see us before
we headed home.

Gave us some great news....new baby on the way, their first. Really wonderful news.
Glad to have gotten it first hand, chance to hug the new mom-to-be, and congratulate my
nephew, the father-to-be. Very good day.
