We are about 3” from a record total for Dec to Feb. We are right at 48” for those 3 months. I believe we average 35” or so for a complete winter.

We are out of places to put snow.

I always point out that there were Iceburgs at Martha's vineyard 8,000 years ago .
There are 1,000s of volcanic vents around the Pacific Rim that have whole ecosystems that thrive in the 400°+ water at 2,000+ ft below the surface and all that hot water has to go somewhere .

A real noticeable change could come if say a little stretch of real estate like a 50 mile wide swath from Chula Vista CA north to about Bubank CA would turn off the AC for 1 extra week in say July or the first part of August . I did some math once and LA the city changes enough heat in A/C to boil from 50°F about 2³ miles of the Pacific ocean every year . That didn't count anything for the power to run the AC .

But this is obviously caused by bovine flatulence so why bother .

Waco has plenty, I'm sure he's willing to share. My daughter lives just south of him and they got 12 inches,

And they aren’t likely prepared for that snow. Bet the roads are a mess and traffic, and life, came to a standstill.

Pretty much. My day didn’t change. Just had to deal with all of the idiots that can’t drive in a little snow. Stuff like this shuts the town down.

Imagine what it is like if it stays below 20° F for a few weeks and the snow doesn’t melt. Packed snow on roads. Ice all over the place.

Now have 3 months of that. I do t know that we have gotten over 35° more than 5 Days since December 1

Son in law is a roofer, he had the day off. :) About 2-3 weeks ago he bought a F-350 HD 4x4, used it last night to pull a semi tractor up a hill.

Walter, you can borrow my skid-steer for a few days, the key is in it, just bring it back by the weekend and leave it as you found it full of fuel. If you get thrown in jail over the little hydraulic leak from the bucket cylinder or the fact that it predates exhaust aftertreatment systems that's all on you to figure out.

We have had snow for 30+ hours and I don't think it has put more than 3" down. Light grains with no moisture in them. We had 10 huns [Hungarian partridge] hanging around the house all day looking for gravel and or seeds. if we can give them a wind break and a safety area they're welcome to it.

We got a quarter inch of ice, followed by 9" of snow with 50mph wind over the weekend. I have a nice snowblower, would have died without it. If I ever move south I would take it with me as to not jinx the entire region and be a reminder.

Give them any seeds, John?

Hmm. Ian, I think if Walter took off at best speed, it would be three days down and
three back, and I think he is still working for a living. But a kind offer, no doubt.

Brad,
News weather man said tonight on the news it has been 56 days since we have had above 32, but he is down there in the banana belt of Duluth. LOL It's near -20 now actual. I've got five labs in the shop with me now that think I have five hands, and there should be treats in all of them. Good times.

Low 60's yesterday.... with moderate winds. But wind is sorta a trick measure for us. We routinely have 20-30mph sustained...... most anytime of year. I call that moderate. Anything over 30 sustained starts to get our attention buuuuut OK,cause we can go down in the hollers and be generally GTG.

But wind is a driver for the weather folks, from the alarmists POV. So yeah,it's been howling of late well over 30.

Sposed to be mid-upper 60's on the temp today and I'll predict "moderate" with relief on the wind.

Gonna make a better target holder for the 150 yd "berm" this a.m. I use some very fancy $$$ paper that is water/windproof and still registers nice round holes.I just leave it up,has been covered with snow, ice, and torrential rains and dosen't miss a beat. Will use some junky oily plywood..... gonna be a cute little bugger. A back, two little side walls at a 90* to the back with an roof pitched angle on their respective tops. Then a little sheet metal roof. Hopefully start shooting more at that yardage... well that's the plan. Will take pics and start a thread.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Well, the wind finally died down. This old house needs some serious weather proofing. Previous owner gutted the place and had his lackeies (Spanish speaking bums/drunks he picked up outside his business in NYC I'm told) "super insulate" the place. His definition of "super insulate" means stuffing 6" insulation in a 4" stud wall...while leaving plenty of gaps where it got too hard to bend over or stretch up. Some sections of wall had no insulation, no vapor barrier, nuthin'! Then he just slapped vinyl siding (beige of course) over the exterior, not adding anything so much as tar paper over the ancient metal siding plates with their rust holes. It's a beaut. Did give me a chance to wear that nice Cardigan "Grandpa sweater" my wife got over a sweat shirt and turtle neck though. I think it was warmer outside! Now it's a balmy 12F but the air is almost still.

Got to go tot he country seat to get my paperwork to run for office again. I hate getting those petitions signed. But if I don't do it there will either be an empty seat or we'll get someone who has no idea where the money comes from in the first place.

Detroit's average was 48 inches, IIRC. There was a large hardware store that sold Toro snowblowers. You could return the machine for a full refund, if the seasonal snowfall fell below the average.

Pre snowblower days, at Cindy's house. That was one snowfall. Notice the steel coal shovel.............that was one heavy sucker when filed with wet snow.

Those coal shovels are a beast when full of snow. Heavy wet snow is never fun to move, not even with a snow blower.
