Going to spend the day trying to convince myself to get up early in the morning and mow the lawn before it get hot. Did I tell you I dislike mowing the lawn.:sigh:

What's with that grass? Give it a little fertilizer and water when it doesn't rain and it thinks it should be mowed twice a week. What's with that?

Setting at the computer with my PopTart(s), coffee and CCR on the player. Might not get anything done today.

My best friend, throughout grade school and college (we roomed together there), was a big CCR fan. They kinda wore out their welcome. I much rather listen to SRC, particularly, In the Hall of the Mountain King/Bolero.

Here's another hint, since the west side is up hill it probably ain't over there. Gee, that only leaves a 1/2 acre where it might be, could be, probably is.

I don't know what is up with the grass. When I sat the house down here 46 years ago I thought a big yard with lots of grass would be just great for the kids to play on. well the kids are all grown up and gone, but the grass is still here. I don't remember the last time I fertilized the lawn and it only gets water once a week. It still grows.
:headscratch:Isn't part of you grass over your septic? Just saying.
No septic tanks here. All piped sanitary sewer here. Been that way when I sat the house down.

Picked up a Stack-on locking cabinet for storage. Got some shelves cleared out in loading room and the cabinet screwed to the wall. I needed a locking cabinet for some stuff.

All I've managed to do today after work was drink a couple cold beers and prep some 6.5cm brass.

I think Walter wins.
I like the oyster boat cruise too.

tomorrow is gonna be hot and sucky.
gonna be at Littlegirls early to re-seal her asphalt driveway, then her and her hubby are gonna come over and help pour the little strip of cement under the garden fence, and get the 6 apple trees planted by the gate.
I have never seen trees like these before, they get about 9-10' tall and about 18" around and bear apples, I'm kind of thinking about going back and buying the rest of them and just planting a whole hedgerow like affair with them.
they call them Urban apple trees.

I think when everything matures better I'm gonna be a bit overwhelmed with apples.
I already have 2 other little apple trees and a crab apple tree, the crab apple tree gives me a ton of blooms every year and is covered with Bees for a solid week,,,, and about 5 jillion little bittersweet apples.
I'm probably gonna have to learn how to make jam, or start dehydrating.

I worked all day, ate supper, hookednup the 16' trailer and loaded it with brush for two hours. Got about half of the piles from last weekend on there, stomped down good, tarped, and stapped down tight for a trip to the county dump in the morning. Then its off to PMI for some 6x20 4"-square panels and some square tubing for gates, TSC for a 110 gallon water trough, and I'm really feeling good I might grab some sacrete for five more posts.

The problem with any fruit tree is keeping it alive. I've put in a bunch over the years. Between deer, mice, ice storms, so called drought, livestock, deer, deer and deer, it's a complete crap shoot on what will live and what won't. The very expensive trees grown locally from "Hardy Northern Stock" do no better than the TSC cheapies that are hardly grown from northern stock! Once established a standard or semi dwarf can do okay. I'm still waiting to form an opinion on the dwarf varieties. As with most things, the further you take something from amture and the more you domesticate it, the lower it's ability to survive outside of mans care. Examples- domestic sheep vs Big Horn sheep, a coyote vs a Brussells Griffon dog, Jersey cow vs a buffalo, garden roses vs wild ramblers.

Finished 1st cut except for one tiny weed patch I've been mowing for 4-5 year now in hopes of making it into a meadow. So far the rocks are winning, but I'll at least bush hog it at some point. Outside of losing on belt off the round baler and a mysterious aliment to my ancient square baller that I think I can ID and fix, I had no break downs! Some of the baler belts are probably 30 years old and I got a 20 ton press to repair them now, so no biggy.

Bearings came in for my 50 year old manure spreader. Hope to have that fixed today so we can do some more cleanup. Raining at present, and we can surely use it. Still haven't had a chance to try out the HF hammer drill on the fencing project.

Remember my aunt Georgia would always make me one when we used to visit their big arse house in the country.I "think" she used to put the slices on a cookie sheet then on top of old steam radiators. She was my favorite aunt, not cause of the pies..... doh. No,she was so dang beautiful and nice.In her later years, like 80..... she still looked good.Had a perfect tan, always smiling, and in great shape...... well, and the pies, haha.
