Got a set of cherry handles headed towards the bench. Going to be a set..... 8-32 threaded inserts for all sorts of tips. And one with a screwdriver "socket" thing. The handles are done, finished, with ferrules epoxied on.

But haven't drilled for the threaded inserts. Got to make a vertical V block fixture which will clamp on the ferrule to center the hole drilling.

Got some more of Dad's stuff today ...... can't believe it's been 15 months and bits and pieces are still falling off shelves and landing on my foot .

He always wanted a 257 Roberts but never got one .
No dies , but lots of bullets to share with his 25-06' .
160 brand new , one lot of never out of the box RP 257 cases.

Also a shell holder for the single stage Lachmiller with the 12ga size decap die in it . The shell holder doesn't look like it was ever used .

I think the bushings are for the Uniflow but the micro adjustment won't fit so I don't know what those are actually for yet .

There is an interesting powder measure hopper that might shed some light on the other parts .

I have 3 more cans to go through but only brought one home with me .

Well, got studying on the furnace/basement stairs issue some more and determined I can't take that header out. I'm not really sure it DOES anything, but it is connected, sort of anyway, to the support system for the stairs going to the 2nd floor. Don't really trust my judgement on this one so I'm not touching it. (You can read that as, "I'm scared to death of screwing it up and having to listen to SWMBO critique my judgement.) So the next best idea is to remove 2 stair treads and simply screw them back on (they are cleat style, no risers) after the fact. Seems simple enough, so it'll probably end up a disaster. Did manage to get 15 or so boxes of clothing out of the basement in preparation for a Salvation Army run. Our closest SA is in Watertown, about 45 minutes. Not a terrible distance, but it's going to be in the F350 as there's no way I'm making 4 or 5 trips in her Outlander.

Gord and I took the UTV out checking fence and just generally exploring the place. Absolutely gorgeous day!

So when is this tank going in? Ya getting it buried or above ground?
Wish it could be buried, but can't bury it in solid limestone. Going to put it across the driveway about 10 to 15 feet up hill of the detached garage. Hope to get it started latter part of this coming week. Later it gets done, the more it's going to cost to fill it.

Left my Johnson Bar in Kali. New one coming Monday or Tues. Machines are covered with two brand new tarps, They're on boards and half under the balcony. They'll survive.

Spent a wet week in North Dakota chasing ducks. Got home Thursday and a friend told me there was a gun show in town starting Friday and I decided to get a table. Did a little selling and a little trading.
Today was the 50th anniversary of the day I met my wife when we went to Trees For Tomorrow conservation camp as sophomores from different high schools. Went out to dinner tonight to celebrate.
Rain, rain, and more rain. I picked up a 7 1/2" New Service in 38 w.c.f. but I won't take it out in the rain to try it out. Gotta stop raining some time, right?

I'm sure the snow will slow it down some.

good snag on the Colt.
I really like the 38-40 round in revolvers, it doesn't kick, but will penetrate a pine tree and 3 rocks.

Archery deer season started September 28th. I went out Friday morning. Temp was the coolest (60 degrees) it's been, since then. Lows were in the 70's and highs in the 90's, prior to. Nothing but tree rats, were active.

I second the good snag on the NS 38-40. Used to fish with an old millwright that carried a NS 38-40. He was a bear magnet and local legend has it he killed a couple with the NS in one hand and fly rod in the other.

Today is SWMBO and my wedding anniversary. I think we got hitched in '84, so that should make it about 35 years of wedded bliss, a couple near divorces, hard work, laughs and each of us trying to help the other get through life. Been together since 1977. So the 2 older kids are going to take the 2 younger ones and "do something" while Mom and I go to the big city (Watertown) and hit the Red Lobster for her. 18 months in Okinawa spoils you totally for anything from a chain seafood eatery, so I'll eat the steak they serve which is pretty good, and I like their biscuits. Probably hit a few other places and just generally see what there is to see, which ain't much. Used to be she'd drop me at Borders and be gone for 4 hours and I was perfectly content. But Borders is gone, more's the shame.

Real nice picture John. Only pics better than those of dogs and pussy cats is dogs or pussy cats with deer.

We're working on buying stuff we didn't want to ship or carry to the free world. New mattress for our bed is a pretty high priority. We're sleeping on cots right now. Our furniture, what little we didn't throw away or give away, will show up tomorrow or the next day (maybe).

Been looking for ammo in the dozens of boxes in the future reloading shop. Found some old 45 Colt SWC loads for the Colt SAA. Still have to find 45 ACP for the 1911 and 38 SPL for the two 38s.
Have a machine shop and a reloading shop to set up and organize. Have at least one, and probably 2 benches to build.

Water people are coming later this week to set up a UV sterilizer on the household water.

Had a nice front row seat for the light (lightning) show last night. Only been in the new homestead a week, but loving every minute of it. Which reminds me, Rick was so much help with this purchase and move, it's going to take a lot of dinners of smoked beef to show our gratitude. Now I'm looking forward to showing our gratitude. Anxious to get John & Cindy over for dinner too. John has provided advice and direction that would have been difficult to find elsewhere.
