Started back replacing the third floor of my tower yesterday, continued today. It's a little harder then I anticipated. Braces on the knees, meds that give you vertigo. Built this four story tower in a full leg cast. You would think it would get easier without the cast. Maybe 40 years I between has some thing to do with it. Oh well, maybe I'll just go cast some bullets.

Our tax office opened up week before last and was metering up to four people at a time through to shell out their money. I managed to get almost right in and they didn't ask for any paperwork (VIC, insurance, registration letter). Just asked me the VIN and here ya go. I got a nasty look when I started counting out bills, I just smiled and she soaked every one of them and the pocket change with something from a pump spray bottle. Had to laugh, I'm thinking about all the cocaine, cooties, and butt sweat that's been on money since it was made out of paper and NOW they're worried about it?

Wife went to get her tags on Monday and they're shut down again until further notice. We have a forgiveness until June 1 last I checked.

Speaking of June, the neck surgeon himself called me today and said the other surgeon wasn't available 15 June but would 17 June be okay for me? I said heck yes. As far as I know Wednesday isn't his normal surgery day and may be the only patient. Regardless, I'll be first in line at 0730. We had a really good chat about my concerns and he laid everything out with full explanations and reasoning. I think this is going to go just fine.

I hear ya guys. These beaver contracts I just bid are 26 pages long, per contract, but some have three lakes on them. The start date on them was suppose to be May 15, but I didn't get them until today, the 19 th. We are given 5 days to bid the lakes we want to bid, and they are spread out over 7 counties! Some have invasive species protocol, which requires any boats/ canoe/ equipment used at those lakes either stay there during duration of contract (May 15 - Oct. 15) or have to be steam cleaned/ chemical bath etc. each time you leave the area! Now would YOU want to leave your boat/ canoe/ gear at a lake for that long? Oh and all traps leaving the area have to be cleaned also. Only the government can think this stuff up. Did I mention they are all working from home also? I won the bid on one group of three lakes today. Called about the other 5 bids and they haven't been "awarded" yet. Of the 26 pages of the contracts, 1.5 pages is about insurance requirements that have been waived! Also six pages about work place behavior! One of the lakes has a county ditch, which has to have a special permit from the county to maintain or remove beaver dams within, which also requires the state to get the permit from the county. Sooo, this contract has 29 pages, with the permit from county, work start order, and phone listings for wardens, to verify disposition of beaver taken during contract period, and there are two wardens because one has jurisdiction over two lakes, and one has one! Oh, and do I have the right keys to the gates that gain entry to the water control structures! Don't forget to submit your Bi-monthly reports, or invoice for partial payment at the end of June (end of their fiscal year). I need a secretary!!!!!

Ready to start the second floor just need to pickup 2ea. 2x10x18' & 2ea. 20' in a couple days. Now that the snow is gone, I'm pretty sure I have enough plywood for the decking..

Odd but the very first gubmint offices to re-open here were the money grabbers. I went yesterday to buy permanent tags for a trailer I picked up and walked right in and up to the window, was there about 5 minutes, no masks or even questions about them. Nobody behind the counter was wearing them either though they did have plastic shields up.

the grocery store has a plexi-glass thingy between the customer and the cashier.
but,, you stand a foot away from the cashier behind you.
the gas stations got nuthin, unless you count the deli counter glass.

Went on my first job since February today! Will be there also tomorrow and part of Friday! Intermetro Industries located in Luzern County, Pa a Big hot spot for Covid-19! got screened on entering and Saw that I would only be working with 3 other people ( younger family men that said also it was the first time they were back in the closed plant since March 10th....made me feel better about the job. Social distancing and Masks and Sanitizer were the norms so It eased a lot of my worries...plus these are people I trust that I have worked with for more the 10 years!
Actually it was good to be behind the camera again after all this time off. Put in a long day...the old body is a bit sore and feet hurt from standing for 8 hours but it was nice to work again! The make Storage shelving for hospital so they are considered an essential business!

View attachment 14943 Good news Ian. What did he say about the thyroid?

He said he's going to try to work around it and expects to leave it alone, but he might find the tumor stuck to it or grown into it when he gets in there (scans don't always show everything) in which case he may have to take out part or all of it. All indications are he won't have to, he just wanted me to know going into it that it's a possibility. Getting TSH and full endocrine workup before surgery so we have a current baseline to establish meds later if necessary. Plenty of unknowns still, most of them with interesting consequences relating to nerve damage but they have ways to help me rehabilitate if I lose swallowing or speech nerves with the tumor. This thing is 9 cm long and 6.5 cm in diameter, which makes it about the size of an avocado. He has to try and loosen it, seal off the blood supply, and try to get it up out of my chest and out through a hole in the side of my neck. If he can't he calls in the CT to crack my chest open. Now I know why I haven't been able to close the top button on a 17" collar in a while!

Well today was a town trip.. Bunch of stops, hit 3 hardware stores and 4 gun shops looking for Lundmark at the hardware stores so I can make so BLL. Found out at one store that Lundmark was discontinued in December of 2017. Or maybe ACE or True Value quite stocking it. Anyway the Lady gave me the manufacturers phone number just to check. Looking like I'm going to be stuck with 45/45/10 for a top coat.
I was looking at the gun stores for Royal Blue and Ballistol. Ended up with Rem Oil and Ballistol, from what I gathered Royal Blue was discontinued.. But the important item I was on the hunt for was a .311 H&I die. Most of the gun store guys thought I was speaking Greek. Finally called a Smith friend wwwaaayyy on the other side of North Pole. As luck would have it he had a duplicate in his personal stuff, brand new as well. I was patting myself on the back about saving a couple of bucks and the postage, when she pointed out the 60 mile round trip, so the savings was out the window. Women. I at that point said I was intending to take a drive just to get out of the valley anyway and was intending to invite her, which I did. Had to wait 2 hours for Karyn to get ready for some reason.. We have been together 44 years now, and I figure I've been standing around just waiting for a total of about 5 years now.

pulled weeds and fussed around between rain clouds yesterday.
put the fish from the other day through the smoker, I made the brine some salty and it showed but I really like it that way especially with alder wood.
for those that didn't want it so salty I gave theirs a quick rinse and a good air dry.
the G-boy ate almost the entire 12" fish he caught, that's a lot of fish for a 2 Y.O.

the ACE store got in a new shipment of plants so I went over to see what they had and grabbed a juneberry bush.
I almost got a chokeberry bush to go with it, but we got so many of them growing wild around here I decided not to.
if nothing else I can watch my juneberry and judge when the wild ones should be ripening.
now I'm waiting for the rain/snow and 20's temps that are supposed to hit tonight.

I think I might run the old battery over for a draw down test.
it doesn't want to take quite a full charge and it's getting pretty old, not too keen on dropping 175$ for a new deep cycle battery but we are gonna be heading out for a fishing trip here in a week so I need something that can handle quick charges and long draw downs.

Back from My location photo shoot And working on the files I generated the past few days....Client needs to get more product shipped in so Will be back on the shoot next Wednesday....Was hoping to get a photo of the 2000 Lead ingots I saw in the Loading dock area on Wednesday when I arrived But they were gone by Thursday morning! Their Lab guys used these to determine how much weight their shelving could hold!
Now that their lab has got a new computerized system to measure that.... they sent these off to the recyclers! Crap.... a day earlier I could have scored some nice lead!

Made the wife and I a nice scratch made pizza tonight! I had a nice batch of frozen & chopped Hatch Green chilies.... so used those with some chopped sausage.....my special Pizza sauce and some cooper and 4 mix Mex cheese mix!
Got a high rating with the little lady!....It was worth the time & Delicious
