So are ya out on parole? Again? What agenda do they have ya on? Menu restrictions. Exercise restrictions. What did they say about a time frame to return to work? That paycheck interruptus thing is gonna get tough I would think.

Typical cluster but we stayed on their butts until they got me processed out about 5:15. Been home since 7:30 and just now starting to relax. Will go deal with all the tape glue on my arms and shower here in a minute. I had nine IVs including artery IVs in both wrists and not including about half a dozen dry-sticks (just that I'm aware of, no telling how many when I was out) and around a dozen blood draw pokes. The K salt IV and the antibiotic kept burning up my veins. Black, blue, purple, and yellow from elbow to palm on both arms but by golly I'm still alive thanks to awesome professionals and positive thoughts/prayers.

Oh, the rest. Menu is anything I want as long as it contains no fat of any kind. 10lb weight lifting restriction, so I can't pick up either of my kids. I'll go back to work when I'm healed; originally asked for three weeks off per Dr recommendation and best case but the complication set my strength/healing back at least a week so I'm likely off for three from now. Work is cool with whatever I need, no pressure, it isn't like they're paying me. I did double payroll deductions for four weeks prior to surgery so my premiums will all be paid ahead for a month, plus when I'm better I can do paid training from home and earn probably close to a paycheck in a couple weeks. Got plenty stashed for the rest of the summer plus a pile for med bills. Will monitor drain tube until next week and get it taken out, then receive further instructions for a gradual return to normal.

Anyone hear from JonB?

if you place the words ain't and got in front of them it works just fine.

kinda piddled around all day.
went to a couple of places in town and didn't see anything I needed.
went over and Looked at Littlegirls garden stuff, and took her Biig dog home then we BBQ'd some chicken legs and thighs.
her stuff looks fine it's just small, I think her dirt needs more heat so we put the covers back on.

Maybe JonB found a good looking nurse there. Some of those farm girls are easy to look at, especially dressed in all white.

Today, I get to put up a shed to replace the garage I tore down 5 years ago. Don’t really want a shed but we are planning to move and fixing up the house. The shed will be the staging area for materials.

It a prefab, Herself found it on sale.

Reading about what my forum friends are going through along with a couple of close personal friends that are seriously ill makes me grateful to just hurt and ache.
The preparations for the shoot are just about complete. My first shooter friend is arriving in about 4 hours. His motto is, "Shoot early and shoot often." He stole that from the Chicago voters guide.
Yesterday was a lot of weed whacking around target stands, rails, and berms. Target placing and painting. Then I got worried about the mud waller I had created next to the two new shooting benches. We've recently had over 2" of rain and if a raccoon is heavy enough to leave prints, men obviously can't walk on it. Plus I want to keep people from piling their gear, (crap), on the shooting benches. I fixed up a heavy duty school lunch table, painted it to match the bench tops, but needed a place to put it conveniently at hand. Monday I had 16 yards of gravel dropped off from our annual township gravel purchase where residents can buy as many 16 yard truck loads as they want at the township's cost. This year 160 bucks per truck load. So I laid down six yards to extend the gravel pad from the shooting benches all the way to the existing driveway. That'll handle the mud issue. It's the darned hand raking that is tedious.
Another shooting buddy, friend, and nearby neighbor, who is a master metal fabricator, dropped by to provide ten, 5" diamond shaped knock down targets, fabbed up from 3/8" steel. He had them primed and ready for paint, and they are perfect! I put them on the 80 yard rail and squirted them with Rustoleum flat white. These will now be the off hand targets for the match. 5" off hand, centerfire cast bullet rifles, doesn't sound too tough does it boys? There is a 12" swinger for rough zeroing, and a 6" swinger under the rail to warm up on before going for score on the diamonds.
From there we move out to 160 yards. Under that rail there are two 10" swingers for warm up. The on the rail there are two 4", six 6", and two 8" knock down discs. I'm thinking most of the guys are going to want to shoot these from the bench.
Jumping out to 210 yards. There is a 22" sighter gong and two 30' rail road rails. On one there are ten NRA standard chicken silhouettes. On the other there are ten buffalo silhouettes. Two little buggers about 10" long and maybe 6 or 7" at the hump, and eight bigger bison I think are 14" long and proportionately tall. They are replicas of the buffalo on the buffalo nickel. There are also four 10" discs on that rail just for grins.
350 yards has an 18" swinger gong and five of the larger buffalo targets on top of the rail.
Lastly, 440 yards, one 22" swinger gong in the middle under the rail flanked by a 10" and a 12" gong. On top of the rail are five more of the big buffalo. These long distance targets will be shot from the bench I made to go on the Geezer Wagon to elevate the shooter above the prairie grass. There will be a second flat bed hay wagon for spectators to sit on so as not to disrupt the shooter with movement on his wagon.
Fifty four knock down targets for "score", (if we keep score), should provide ample shooting opportunities to burn up some ammo.
Minor spruce up duties today and let the fun commence!

 Learned a lesson shooting long range handgun . . . White targets are to be feared. On a sunny day they sure do show up well but they almost "glow" and with open sights the target appears larger than it actually is. Makes sighting on them all the more difficult.

I got the boat all ready to take out this afternoon.
I visited the garden. Mainly to see if there were any more potato bugs. None found. Unfortunately the deer have found my pea plants are a good food source. Any plants with stems outside of the fence are gone. I knew some day they would find them. It was a good 8 year run with no problems.
Last night Junior the bear showed up again. This time he was up on the porch getting at what little bird seed is left. He still has no fear of humans. twice he reaproached the porch while i was standing on it. When i stepped out of the door he was at about 10 feet. And just continued to eat.

Sounds like some rubber buck or bean bags might be in order , just to give him running lessons .

I'll admit it . In the wilds and close to home Cats , Bears , and Moose scare me . Moose because scale and short fuse and cats and bears because they are best described as 1.5x their weight of rage in a paper bag that is about as predictable as nitroglycerine in a paint shaker with an intermittent switch on a hot day . You know it's going to go you just don't know if it'll be you that did it until after it's done .

Waiting for my home health care nurse to show up and re wrap the medicated bandages on both legs for diabetic ulcers. Been nothing but rain for the last three days. Got in the habit of doing stuff around the house outside and made good progress in doing so. Helped me get the blood sugar down and want to keep it down. At least my bush beans are showing some nice string beans from all the rain. Dug up all the bricks and pavers for the wife so she can add r to her garden. That took two days as most of them had been sitting there so long they sink into the dirt. Had to use a digging bar to get them out of the ground. Messed up my back when I fell so medicated stick on pads seem to be working. Have a big pile of dirt from when the septic system was put in and my BIL leaves a trailer for me to fill up. Glad to see the pile shrinking. Frank

Ian,
After all you've been through, I hope you know not to go Rogue on your doctor and do what your wife says.
In your state she could probably put your ass one handed.

Just Took out The last marauding woodchuck ( that I know of) in the back of my property that has been messing with my gardens!
I found the right ticket for my JA-15 22 LR It is the CCI suppressor 45 grain HP at 940 fps! At a 3/4 angle away from me I put the cross hairs on an area 1/3 up from his rear Hit exactly where I aimed and transversed the 2/3 of the upper body coming out his neck! Hitting every vital!
Anchored on the spot! and the sound was not too loud! First time I found anything under 1000 fps that works! So this load is the magic ticket for "my" suburbs! He was a 20 lb guy 4 days ago he was playing "nookie" with his girl friend but she departed 3 days ago!

dang hot today.
I took Littlegirl her hubby and the G-boy and their dogs up to the mountains for a little while this afternoon,
we went and checked on the raspberries and service berry bushes then hung out in the shade for a little while.
we only went up to about 8,000 feet so it was still on the hot side, and the bugs were out having a good time when there wasn't any sort of breeze.
the serviceberries looked to have about a 70-80% pollination success rate, so if they get some decent rain between now and the time to pick them they should have a good crop.
we come home and Littlegirl got me to take some cuttings from the banana mint patch in the green house and she made some jam out of it.

I'm sitting here watching it cool waiting to see if all the lids sealed.

it's just another mint plant.
when the plants are young you get a hit of banana flavor before the mint flavor kicks in.
I held mine over in the green house this winter and they have lost the banana hit, but they have a smooth long lasting mint flavor.
it's kind of like a lower spearmint chewing gum intensity that lasts about 5 minutes as you suck on a leaf.
it doesn't hit you in the face like regular mint does just from brushing up against it, you actually have to crush it a little to release the flavor.

last year I had the option of maybe 3 or even 4 different mints, chocolate and banana were 2 of the options.
I already have regular mint out back in one of the 3 x 3 foot raised up boxes, but thought I'd give this stuff a try.
I like having the mint around out there in case I see mice or other rodent type stuff, so I can just clip it and lay it around to help keep them out.
they hate mint, especially if it gets in their face.
so I figured having some around a nice warm building might come in handy just in case.
