California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
This morning's range session involved the .38 Special Uberti 1866 with Sierra's 125-grainers*, and the still very new to me .223 Ruger American with Winchester's 55-grain JHP and Hornady's 55-grain V-max test rounds.
*Not a fan of light-for-caliber bullets, but I couldn't pass up 400 of them, for almost free.

The Chinese flu lockdown and its ensuing restrictions hit the county's shooters pretty hard. The range re-opened Friday after a four-month closure, but only half the stations are open and there is a two-hour maximum time limit.

Closed? Time limit?
My range never closed and time limit is 7am to sundown.
Do I have it that good?
Oh, my range also stores my lead stash in the berms. Awful good of them, don’t you think?

had I not sent all of my mec's off to some 4-H club down in Texas I'd mail you one.
I had 6 different ones doin me no good.
Geez I got a half keg of Herco that needs a home. Why is it that I'm like six small countries away from everyone on the board?

Now just because I want a gun and my wife says it is ok, what makes you guys think I am going to buy it.
Besides the gun shop closed up till Tuesday and I was short a few bucks. Now just because I am going to be standing outside the gun shop Tuesday when they open. With a buck fifty, DOES NOT MEAN I AM GOING TO BUY IT.

Took the boy out for a free dive this afternoon. We got five keepers. These are red rock crab. Waiting for the water to boil!

:headscratch: Probably, not 600 yards but no need to. Couple times, shot deer over 100 yards, PITA trying to find just where it was standing to find the blood trail. Covered, yes, if I shoot off the porches. Been ages since Rick, been here, to shoot.

Envy you guys with the home ranges. Because of life's battles I have ended up in a Small town retirement type, trailer court, instead of a 20 acre farm, with a 100 yard private range. But that is a story for another day. You would need time to tune up your tiny violins before I could tell it. LOL
So Joined local club 50 bucks a year, short 10 minute drive.
We share our range with the boy scouts and local PD so if you go around 6 in the evening, or 10 am on a Saturday. Better bring your fishing pole, you might have to wait an hour or two, for them to finish up and clear out. If the police are not doing tacticals, you can still pistol or bow shoot at the lower 25 yard range.
Other then that it is 1/2 hr before sunrise to 1/2 hr after sunset.
Top range is only 75 yards.
So if I want more I have to drive 50 miles for 100 yards, or 120 miles to shoot up to 300.
Anything beyond that is call for a booking, be ready to pack a lunch, spend 50 bucks and make a drive 30 miles. Do that about 2 times a year.
Not as blessed as some. But grateful for what I have.

I had to drive about 5 -10min for 100 yd and 35 min for 17 miles . I'm pretty happy with Moms place 20 min away now with lunch in the fridge and 150 yd as soon as I get around to moving the back stop .
