8 or 10? I looked into a 22kw standby, then bought it, then had it installed. Power goes out here and it's out for 15 seconds and the generator is running and powering the entire all electric house. When the power comes back on generator shuts off and waits for next time. Winelover and Smokeywolf both have the same unit. Some of the best money I've put into this place. I'm on a well and with no power there is no water pump, I can't even flush the commode. Problem solved.

Yep. My wife saw the same thing happen to the phone company.

Our power outages are pretty rare -- the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake, an owl into the lines, a tree limb into the same lines. We are on the same grid as the police station, so when the power does goes off we are usually back on very quickly.

Two years before I bought this place there was an ice storm that had the power out here for two weeks. That would be two weeks with no water, hot water (showers), fridge (2-3 thousand in insulin that has to be refrigerated), freezer, lights, cooking, HVAC, coffee pot, toaster, washer/dryer. No nothing except a kerosene lamp. Even if there isn't another outage like that the cost of the generator is worth every penny just in peace of mind.

I have a 12 KW Kobota diesel generator. Have to manually start and stop but that's fine as its in a heated shop. 50 AMPs is more than enough, with everything on we only pull 66 amps, so don't use the dryer. We are on propane for cooking and oil for heat. Wood heat as well. Can't afford all electric up here at $.27 cents per KW on line power. Have a 500 gallon diesel tank for the generator and shop heat.
Longest we have been without power has been almost 7 days. We lose grid power 2 or 3 times each winter.

A whole lot of people were doing without electricity for 2 days+ during the wind event late last week. SoCal Edison saw the huge lawsuits being filed against PG&E up north after the Camp Fire, and decided to shut power off to customers any time the wind started getting gusty around here. Most of Beaumont, Cherry Valley, and Banning was shut off until the wind abated. A generator is never a bad investment.

Today I tore down my 450 Bushmaster...

I assembled the upper some many months back. Had some feed issues folower related. Fixed that. Then I knew I was shooting powders inappropriate for a gas gun. (I have a bolt as well) But I cracked a new box of 450 BLK250g. It cycled fine.
Following month. I worked on a couple loads and discovered the barrel liked the 200g best. So I loaded a ladder and found a load. It functioned fine. I fired some subs some lead then some 250's... Function issues. Grrr

I figured maybe the lead a d gas sysm?!?!?

Well it has sat for months and today I tore it down. I expected to find gad blocked had moved or lead in gas tube.... I found NOTHING... grrrr. Gas tube clear. Block perfectly aligned. No movement in gas block. Tore down bcg.... Nothing. The seals good, key staked and solid. Barrel clear. I did find comp loose... Cleaned and te Locktited...

So what??? Mag problem??? Im stumped.

Gonna try again Tomorrow. I have only a few factory loded remaining. Im gonna go load up ten or so just middle road loads for fubctjon with FTX bullets.

It appears to have been 100% ammo.
Hornady manual seems to have some bogus data. Its WAY LIGHT!! Western Data shows to 40.5g with a light bullet where Hornady stopped at 29.5... My gun wont even eject a 32.5g load and 35.3 isnt reliable extraction!! 37 is pretty good 98% reliable. Loaded 37.5 and 38.0 tonight 5 ea to test.

Lucky thing is, is ALL OF THEM are shooting really well!!

so the light saga continues.
she had a cloth santa clause hanging over the front window when I left for littlegirl's place earlier.
when I come home it was moved over to the kitchen window and there was a wood porch swing sitting on the lawn with Christmas light wrapped around it and a 5' wide merry Christmas sign hooked to the header beam sitting on the lawn in front of the window.

Today is the first day of a predicted warm spell, 40º high and low 30s overnight...should be 3 or 4 days (50º on Wed).
Although it will be foggy cloudy most of today, it's still suppose to get up to 40.
sooooooo, I plan to get to the range with the 222 CZ at least once.

Also, I have a Turkey thawing, time to do another spatchcock style on the smoker. I hope to prep it today and get it in the brine. It's been great weather for this type of thing, where the unheated enclosed porch is the same temp as the Frig :)

On my 3rd Shitzu now, she's 8.
Tried all my dummy profiles in the CVA, waiting for rings - maybe this week. Supposed to be a warm dry winter this time.

Gonna sort through all this stuff I brought home a few weeks ago and figure out what to keep, what to sell, and what is trash.

The test results are Negative for COVID! So, back to work tomorrow. The good thing is that because of my wife’s poor health we are really paranoid about getting her or the boy sick. Fingers crossed I think i avoided getting them sick this time.

Good to read.
I go back to work wednesday. I am free of quarantine tomorrow.
We are 1 day away from freedom. We all tested positive. My wife has a lot of issues. I am a fine mess myself. The swine flue several years back. Put me in the hospital, came close to taking my life, and left me with perminent health issues. Took everything I owned.
So was scared to death for my wife and I when this started getting into our area. It's all around so we do not know who brought it home.
Turns out in my case, this was nothing near as bad as the swine flu. Pretty sick but no dehydration, and we made thru all staying home with no meds except NyQuil, some vitamin C- zink gummies., a lot of fluids and prayers.
Still going to do my best not to catch it again. Maybey even be a bit more careful.
But now I am thru it, not going to be as mentally pressed by its existence.

IMO....Think it's all going to come down to most people getting it, or getting vacinated (if the shot helps much) then building a resistance.
Then once that happens it will still be here but not near as dangerous.
