She went to GK soccer (they lost) while I pulled the plastic off the underside of the hyundai looking for the oil leak. Need to find the PVC and oil separator too. Kinda looks like a pan gasket leak. More fun. Getting too old for this stuff.

Currently considering what I might have this evening after I've fed our lawless friends who are endangering the country by dropping by for supper that centers around my easy-peasy peppercorn tri tip roast.

So ridonculously easy to make... so ridonculously good tasting. I think I'd take it over prime rib - even if I didn't have to be the one who paid the butcher for the roast...

And it will end up looking something like this in a couple of hours...

And I will feel justified in whatever libation I choose to reward myself for the ten minutes of prep work it took...

Any of those will do, I would pick the Laphroaig personally. Islay Scotch, preferably Ardbeg Uigeadail or one of the lesser cask-strength varieties, is my first choice to buy. Life is too short to drink cheap booze. Sadly, I'm actually mildly allergic to ethyl alcohol these days so I now drink next to never instead of my usual rarely.

Yesterday, I setup the outside Christmas decorations and lighting. I was going to finish the back gutter lights, today, but didn't get round to it. Tomorrow is soon enough.

Last night, I made an emergency trip to Home Depot, because I got all tied up with the above and forgot about a sale. A Milwaukee kit consisting of a drill, an impact, two 1 1/2 AH batteries, a charger, and a canvas bag were advertized at $149.99, discounted from $199.99. I wandered round a large cordless tool sale display area and up and down the non-sale cordless tool aisles, but couldn't find them. Finally collared a nice, helpful and friendly young lady who helped me wander some more, then said "Let's try down here." Yep, there it was. Emphasis on it, because it was the last one.

At the checkout, the price came up at $199.99 and try as Mahmoud might, and me telling him it was $149.99, the price wouldn't change. Not believing they were on sale, Mahmoud and I walked to the display, he saw the sale tag and punched the SKU into his portable electronic do-all thingie (his cell-phone). Back at the register the price was still $199.99, so he did a $50 price override. I showed him my V. A. card, but he said only one discount allowed. No, you still don't understand, the price is $149.99, not $199.99 overridden to $149.99. He collared the original nice, helpful and friendly lady . . . then a nice helpful and older lady . . . then the manager. The four of them hovered round the register and leaving fingerprints all over the register's touch screen. Finally, the manager entered a 10% customer satisfaction discount (the V. A. discount) and all ended well.

Edit to add: A lot of Costco tri-tip sees the inside of our grill.

Busted.

Although in the spring/summer/early fall, when the local Super One is selling lots of grilling meats, you hit the store at the right time of day and you can often get either the tri-tip roast or the steaks cut from the roasts at 30% off. An $18 tri-tip roast for $12 possibly makes it taste even better.

the lady across the street is putting up lights.
I have never seen lights on our street before, and the way she is doing it is kind of funny.

first one strand of green-blue lights that go half way around the pine tree, those ones blinks off and on at really random times.
then a row of white lights most of the way across the front of her eaves.
next was a wreath with led lights that mostly work except for one side of the ribbon.
then she added something that looks like holly berries with some green lights around them.
today she put a stuffed animal sized santa and a deer on the bench under where all the snow will slide off her roof.
this all started the week before thanksgiving.

I doubt the bank told her anything about that.... LOL

she did update the railing to the front door with some white and blue lights and there is a yellow/orange mushroom looking thing by the door now.
there's also 9-10 green globe looking lights around the one basement window.

it wouldn't look so bad but it's starting to get a little avant garde over there against the orange/salmon with green trim house as a back round.
I'm just glad she isn't putting up a fence to match her washer-dryer mail box.

Very nice photo's, Jager. Love Montana, don't care for the long winters, though.

My preference would be the Glenfiddich. Though, I've never tried the others. Never did care for Glenlivet.

Thanks for the Vice images and vice talk. It helped confirm I made the correct decision. even this morning, The internet sent me pictures of that 5" Harbor frieght vice I almost bought...it sure looks pretty...but with my ham fists, I know it would end up being treated like a red-headed step child. I figure a decent craftsman that cost me twice as much and likely will only increase in value, well get treated better...so when I am at that moment of grabbing a larger hammer to apply to the Vice, I'll stop and think twice, LOL, and find a better way or different technique. That is what I should have done two months ago, when I broke the large china Vice that started all this searching and researching.

LoL JonB, you wrote "vice" and I thought you were thanking Jäger for starting the photos and commentary of booze and feasty stuff.

Ian,
Every time I see your “Lead-Free Bullet” thread, my dyslexia switches around the words and I get all excited, for a second. I mean who doesn’t love a good thread about “Free Lead”!

Highly productive day here!!

Started making small batch 7# Breakfast Sausage last night. Finished this AM and tried some. ♥️♥️ Then made a 8# batch of Sweet Italian sausage. This is first time NOT casing them. Thats the big job for me. I need a press as the grinder is just too difficult to do alone. So the BS was pressed and cut into squares and the Sweet was just bagged into 1# bags.
Then spent 45 icing the knee. Loaded the truck for some range time. Muzzle loader season starts this week. So I wanted to ck zero. I also wanted to shoot the 32/20 and site the new scope. Then some 410 slug loads.
WOW! The 32/20 is drivin tacks with the 140hp. OK with the 135's and aweful with the 110gc. The 410 IMPRESSED!!! My own slugs using a 145 LEE bullet glued to a stump wad shot about 16" @ 100 yards. This is OFFHAND. COARSE OPEN SITES & NO BUTT STOCK!!! NEVER EVER expected that!!
All three muzzle loaders are on and sited quickly 3 shots for one two for the second but 7 for the third. Ironically, THAT gun was only one sited last season!!! :) I am Icing the knee again now, waitin for momma ta finish dinner. Lifes is good today!

About 10 p.m. last night we lost electricity. My wife got PG&E on her electronic do-all gizmo. Yep, we've left you and three others in the dark. About 5 a.m. the projected repair time was 7 a.m. About 10 a.m. the update said crews are on their way, and the projected repair time is 12:04 p.m. What!? Where've the crews been since 10 last night? Jeez, Louise!!
Anyway, about 11:50 we heard the refrigerator start up.

For 20-years a lineman/troubleman lived across the street. In addition to his regular shift, he was on 24-hour stand-by. I don't want to think that the current crop of crews are afraid to work in the dark of night or a during a nasty storm, but this episode doesn't make it easy to think otherwise. No reason to be without electricity for 14-hours, when the repair took less than an hour, including setup time, to fix.
